Wesley and Robles Lead Riley over Elkhart Central
South Bend Riley ended their two-game losing streak with a 67-62 victory over Elkhart Central. The Wildcats had lost two close games in a row to Merrillville and Bowman Academy, but big performances by Blake Wesley Blake Wesley 6'5" | SG South Bend Riley | 2021 State #95 Nation IN and Phillip Robles II Phillip Robles II 5'9" | PG South Bend Riley | 2021 State IN helped them pull this one out. Wesley totaled 33 points for his 9th 30-point game of the season. The Notre Dame commit was helped by Robles who added another 22 for the Wildcats. Robles has struggled this season, only reaching double figures for the third time. He had it all working in this one though to help Riley pull it out down the stretch.
Letsinger Goes Off for Hamilton Heights
Lucas Letsinger Lucas Letsinger 6'1" | SG Hamilton Heights | 2021 State IN came into his sixth game of the season with 8 made threes on the season. His career-high for threes in a game was 4 last season. In the Huskies dominating win over Northeastern, he doubled both of those totals with 8 three-point field goals in the win. He totaled a career-high 31 points and dominated in every facet of the game. He has plenty of talent as a basketball player, and he has just as much on the baseball field as he will be playing baseball at IU-Kokomo next season.
Center Grove Takes #2 Carmel to OT
Center Grove, sitting at 3-3 after their loss to Carmel, has played the toughest schedule in the state thus far. They showed that despite their .500 record, they can compete with any team in the state. This game was going back and forth throughout the entire game with neither team able to get an edge until getting it to overtime. In the overtime period, Carmel took control in the overtime and was able to pull away for a 51-44 victory to stay unbeaten on the year. Center Grove was led in scoring by Tayven Jackson Tayven Jackson 6'3" | SG Center Grove | 2022 IN (13), Landin Hacker Landin Hacker 5'11" | PG Center Grove | 2021 State IN (12), and Charlie Bemis Charlie Bemis 6'4" | SF Center Grove | 2021 State IN (9). Carmel was led by Peter Suder Peter Suder 6'5" | SG Carmel | 2022 State #227 Nation IN with 16 pts and 9 boards as well as Connor Gioia Connor Gioia 5'9" | PG Carmel | 2021 State IN (10) and Brian Waddell Brian Waddell 6'5" | SF Carmel | 2021 State IN (9).
