Orchard Lake St. Mary’s vs. Ann Arbor Huron
These were 2 of the odds on favorites last year and will be again this season. Let’s start with the backcourt, which happens to be 2 of the states best. OLSM has a stockpile of guards that bring a variety of skills with next level talent. Huron has a set of guards that have basically grown up playing together. They have depth in the backcourt as well. In the frontcourt, there are tall and long athletes that finish and defend. We’ve been waiting for this game for over a year now.
ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARY’S KEY PLAYERS
Julian Roeper (2021, PG)
Roeper is a Northwestern commit, and he’s talented enough that he could make an instant impact there. Roeper should be in the Mr. Basketball conversation this season.
Kareem Rozier (2022, PG)
Rozier is known for his gritty play and the hustle and energy that he brings to the floor. He’ll be the first on the floor for a loose ball.
ANN ARBOR HURON KEY PLAYERS
Julian Lewis Julian Lewis 6'5" | SG Ann Arbor Huron | 2021 State MI (2021, SG)
Lewis is a premier defender in the backcourt. He’s also a high IQ player that gets the job done with very high efficiency.
Devin Womack Devin Womack 6'2" | CG Ann Arbor Huron | 2021 State MI (2021, CG)
Womack is a creative and explosive combo guard. He can put the ball on the floor and really control the feel of the game.
Grand Blanc vs. Brother Rice
Grand Blanc is an old school basketball fans dream come true. They have multiple stars, but all are ready and willing to fill their role. They fit together like pieces of a puzzle and all take pride in seeing each other eating at the table. Brother Rice is young, but man are they talented. They have elite prospecrs up and down the roster and will be able to out skill almost every team that they square off with.
GRAND BLANC KEY PLAYERS
Ty Rodgers Ty Rodgers 6'6" | SF Grand Blanc | 2022 #34 Nation IN (2022, SF)
Rodgers might have the highest upside of any player at any MHSAA school in the state. I truly believe that he has the profile of a top 20-30 prospect in the country.
RJ Taylor RJ Taylor 6'0" | PG Grand Blanc | 2023 State #262 Nation MI (2023, PG)
Taylor is the perfect point guard to pair with Rodgers. He’s not shot dependent and can make a difference just by playing his own game. There aren’t many point guards in Michigan that can stack up.
BROTHER RICE KEY PLAYERS
Xavier Thomas Xavier Thomas 6'6" | PF Brother Rice | 2023 State MI (2023, PF)
Thomas is one of the most skilled post players in the sophomore class. In fact, he might be first or second. Thomas is hard nosed and tough with a high upside.
Curtis Williams Curtis Williams 6'5" | SF Brother Rice | 2023 State #93 Nation MI (2023, SF)
Williams, combined with Thomas, will make one of the most dangerous sets of forwards that you can find. Williams has blown up as a wing prospect and is getting recruited by high majors.
