6-4 G Jacorye Favors – Washington
Having bounced around to multiple schools over the course of his career, the talent of Jacorye Favors may have slipped through the cracks for most but not here. Favors is a long-armed well-rounded scorer that can slash to the basket. He’s a willing three-point shooter that can be streaky at times but demands attention from beyond the arc. His length makes him a valuable defender that guards multiple positions. The high-motor lefty is averaging 22.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.2 blocks through 10 games.
6-2 G Logan Stephens – Woodward Academy
The score-first guard has exceptional body control and ability to finish in the lane. He’s got a variety of moves to help score against length. He’s a dangerous three-point shooter that can get hot once he sees one drop in. Stephens will need to work on his defense and ability to impact games aside from scoring. He is growing as a playmaker. Stephens is putting up 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals. D-I programs have inquired.
5-9 PG Edric Bailey – Peach County
At 5-foot-9, Edric Bailey’ height hasn’t stopped him from leading Peach County. Bailey has been the engine that makes the Trojans go. His pesky defense sets the tone as he aggressively defends ball handlers. Offensively he pours in points with his tough-nosed play. His quick first step and ability to break defenders off the dribble sets up opportunities. He’s averaging 20.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 5.3 steals.
5-10 PG Eric Gaines Eric Gaines 6'2" | PG Lithonia | 2020 State #239 Nation GA – Camden County
Eric Gaines Eric Gaines 6'2" | PG Lithonia | 2020 State #239 Nation GA is enjoying a breakout season, upping his average from 4.1 points per game to 18.3 points. He’s a smooth guard that gets his feet set quickly when receiving passes on the perimeter. He doesn’t have blinding speed, but he’s measured with his movements, able to attack defenses and keep them off balance. He can score from the mid-range and has shown the toughness to score in traffic.
6-5 F Haden Newport – Murray County
Reigning Region Player of the Year Haden Newport is a solid inside-out threat. He has strength and skill to finish in the paint but can also pull his man out and stretch the floor. He has no problem starting the fast break and going coast-to-coast. Newport has good instincts on defense. He’s a quality shot blocker and can jump passing lanes. He’s putting up 18.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.
6-0 PG DeAngelo Hines – Veterans
DeAngelo Hines got 2021 off on the right foot, surpassing the 1,000-point barrier for his career. He’s been a catalyst for the turnaround Veterans has made, enjoying their best season in school history last year and now 9-0 to start this season. Hines is pouring in 17.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.9 steals. He has deep range and can get his shot off the dribble. Hines can use his speed to weave through defenses to get to the hoop where he draws fouls. Hines is one of the best foul shooters in the state going 40-46 (87%) from the line.
