These upperclassmen have taken their game to the next level.
6-4 W Ty Dalley Ty Dalley 6'4" | SF Vidalia | 2022 State GA – Vidalia
Son of Coach Tommy Dalley, Ty is a versatile wing that can play all over the floor with his size and IQ. Over the summer Dalley was a role player with the Atlanta Timberwolves and wasn’t asked to do much more than rebound and defend. Back at Vidalia, he’s exploded by averaging 27.4 points, 8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 steals. Dalley uses his strength to punish smaller defenders and finish through contact at the rim. On the perimeter, he can knock down the three and use his footwork to slide by defenders. His overall feel for the game and ability to do a little bit of everything makes him one of the best players at the Class 2A level.
6-6 W Oscar Lynch Oscar Lynch 6'6" | SF Pinecrest | 2022 State GA – Pinecrest Academy
With graduation and the transfer bug hitting Pinecrest Academy hard, Oscar Lynch Oscar Lynch 6'6" | SF Pinecrest | 2022 State GA has taken over this year as the one source of go-to offense for the Paladins. The 6-foot-6 wing scores the ball inside and out. Pouring in 25.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 3.2 steals, Lynch can beat opponents in a variety of ways. He can stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting, but it’s been his ability to get to the foul line that has really separated him from others. Through the first five games of the season, Lynch has attempted 59 free throws, sinking 69%.
6-5 F Tylik Grantling – Crawford County
Tylik Grantling brings his wide receiver qualities from the gridiron to the hardwood with Crawford County. Grantling is an aggressive athlete that can high-point rebounds and score around the rim. Tylik is quick off his feet and uses his length to alter shots on defense. He averages 19.6 points, 10 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 3.4 blocks as the Eagles sit at 8-3.
6-2 G Julius King – First Presbyterian Day
The move from Warner Robins to FPD has served Julius King well as he is now the team’s leading scorer, giving Jordan Jones Jordan Jones 6'3" | CG Kennesaw Mountain | 2021 State GA some help, who averaged close to 25 points per game a season ago. King is a steady all-around guard with a nice floor game. His offense has shined through averaging 19.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals on a blistering 60% shooting. King has hit 18-39 threes, good for 46%. Smaller schools will want to start tracking King come his senior season. He could be in line for a big senior season after his early breakout his junior year.
6-3 W Jack Hewitt – North Cobb Christian
Jack Hewitt has come from out of state and has given North Cobb Christian a major lift. He’s a smooth wing that is a deceptively athletic and skilled driver that can get to the rim. Hewitt can use a hesitation move to get defenders off balance before scoring up close. He’s a solid shooter from the perimeter but doesn’t take a ton, going 6-18 (33%) over his first five games. Hewitt is averaging 18.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.4 steals.
6-5 F Tyler Griffin Tyler Griffin 6'4" | PF Southeast Bulloch | 2022 State GA – Southeast Bulloch
The football standout is making up for lost time, bringing his toughness and explosiveness to the Yellowjacket frontline. Griffin does most of his damage in the paint on drives and interior touches, but he has also shown a growing outside shot. Griffin has the bounce to put defenders on a poster and can do so with ease. Through five games he’s averaging 18.6 points and 6.2 rebounds. He’s a dual sport star with his best basketball ahead of him. The more reps he gets, the better he will be.
