2022 6-4 PF Damareon Whitner – Monroe Area
The big-bodied post is a solid piece at the 3A level. Whitner is a bruiser inside that takes up space and can gobble up rebounds. He uses his shoulders to square himself before powering up through defenders. Whitner can finish dump-offs and can use his size to push other big men out of post position.
2022 6-2 G Dre Ross – Monroe Area
Dre Ross is sneaky good. He’s got a good burst to the basket and plays with a high motor, enabling him to affect games without having to rely on his scoring. Ross has the athleticism to push the tempo and finish above shot blockers at the rim. He made some good decisions vs. Collins Hill and tallied 8 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.
2023 6-5 W Ethan Davis Ethan Davis 6'5" | SF Collins Hill | 2023 #238 Nation GA – Collins Hill
The well-rounded game of Ethan Davis Ethan Davis 6'5" | SF Collins Hill | 2023 #238 Nation GA was on display on Wednesday. Davis has the ability to play 1-5 for Collins Hill, a part of their small-ball lineup that presses full court for the entirety of the game. Davis hurts teams in a variety of ways. He’s a tough scorer that can shoot from distance but also absorb contact and finish at the rim. Davis is a reliable rebounder and can hit the open man when situated at the high post. He had 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.
2021 6-3 G Chris Lanns – Collins Hill
Chris Lanns is a physically imposing guard. He’s often times the strongest player on the floor and uses his strength to his advantage. He can make smaller guards uncomfortable with his defense and is a threat in the open floor to put someone on a poster. Lanns’ physicality and toughness will translate well to the next level. He racked up 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 2 blocks vs. Monroe Area.
2022 6-0 G Major Freeman – Archer
Much like the entire Archer team, Major Freeman doesn’t worry about playing with flare or making flashy plays. He cares about defending and winning. Freeman was strong in Archer’s win over Cherokee 52-43. His on-ball pressure helped hold Cherokee to 28 points through three quarter. Offensively, he hit two threes and did a nice job playmaking for others, getting into the lane and finding the open man once the defense collapsed. Freeman recorded 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals as the Tigers won the 29th Annual Deep South Classic Championship.
