With a summer that was mainly lost due to COVID, there are still some under-the-radar prospects looking for a fit.
Quimari Peterson Quimari Peterson 6'0" | PG Gary West | 2021 State IN (Gary West; PG)
Peterson is a terrific backcourt player who is a great floor general at the point guard position. He can play both on and off of the.
He has the ability to connect from three but is at best in transition making plays in the open floor. He is a blur and has great speed and tremendous first step. My favorite part of this game is his passing. He can make the flashy play but also makes the right play more often than not. He always has his head up and looking for the open passing lane.
Defensively, he is easily a lockdown defender with his quickness, size and toughness.
One of the better all-around games from a point guard in the 2021 class. He is averaging 17.4 points, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Isaiah Swope Isaiah Swope 5'10" | PG Castle | 2021 State IN (Castle; PG)
Swope is an intriguing point guard who can do a lot with the ball in his hands. He is a terrific decision maker and ball handler with a very tight handle.
He is a very effective player in pick-and-roll basketball and usually makes the correct read – either a pass or shot. Overall, his ability to shoot on the catch or off of the bounce is very good.
His athleticism combined with his wingspan and quickness is a lethal combination on both ends, but especially defensively.
Swope is averaging 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game.
Jaylen Carson Jaylen Carson 6'6" | PF Crispus Attucks | 2021 State IN (Crispus Attucks; SF)
Crispus Attucks has many talented wings who can play many different positions and Carson is one of them.
He can step out on the perimeter and hit the outside shot, something he has worked hard at to be more consistent with. His favorite three is when he is trailing the guard.
Overall, he is a very versatile forward who can play both inside and out. He is a good rebounder and defender who can matchup with multiple offensive players.
He is averaging 11.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.
Mason Nicholson Mason Nicholson 6'8" | C Gary West | 2021 State IN (Gary West; PF)
Gary West is again loaded with senior talent that have yet to commit to a college program. Nicholson is one of them.
The 6-foot-8 center is very talented in his own right, but unfortunately has been next to 2022 top-30 forward in Jalen Washington Jalen Washington 6'10" | PF Gary Westside | 2022 State #32 Nation IN . Because of that, he may not always get the respect he deserves.
He is a true post player who uses very good footwork and is pretty agile for his 270-pound frame. He is terrific at running the floor and is pretty athletic for his size as well.
So far this season, Nicholson is averaging 9.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game – the next part of his development is taking some of his dominating performances and being a bit more consistent.
