The Cedar City Showcase took place on Sunday, January 10th at the Southern Utah Sports Academy. The event featured 5 Nevada club teams and offered an excellent opportunity for players to compete and gain exposure. Several players excelled at locking up on the defensive end. in this article, we take a look at the top defenders from the event. 

  1. Gianni RodriguezGianniRodriguez6'3" | SFSierra Vista | 2022StateNV 6’3 SF Blue Hoops 2022 (#30PHN 2022) - Used his long arms and instinct to play the passing lanes and get on ball steals. Has good defensive versatility showing the ability to defend 2 through 4.
  2. Tommy BrasciaTommyBrascia6'7" | PFDurango | 2023StateNV 6’7 PF Purple Reign 2023 (#9PHN 2023) - Played terrific low post defense. In addition to banging down low, Brascia rebounded and proved to be the best rim protector at the event.
  3. John BoardJohnBoard6'1" | SGBasic | 2021StateNV 6’1 SG Big Show Ballers 2021 (#21PHN 2021) - Tough as nails, versatile defender. Board got steals as the head of the press, and when playing on ball. If that wasn’t enough, he would go down low to bang with larger guards. 
  4. Shane ThomasShaneThomas6'3" | SGCentennial | 2022StateNV 6’3 SG Purple
