Ray Bosquet | Cristo Rey | 6’3” | Forward | 2021
Bosquet is a long, athletic player, who excels on both ends. He attacks the rim with ferocity, plays through a ton of contact, and scores or gets fouled on finishes, oftentimes both. He has an improving perimeter game and shows promise as a shooter. On defense, he blocks shots in the paint and on the perimeter and leads the team in rebounding. The other night, against a tough Bishop Fenwick team, he closed out the game at the line, and earlier this season, he became the first 1,000 point scorer in Cristo Rey’s history.
Lence Atlenor | Austin Prep | 6’3″ | Guard | 2021
Altenor is a special athlete and player, who can do it all. He dominates around the basket with his size and strength, grabbing boards and finishing strong, but has even more impressive guard skills. He’s a composed ball-handler, gets to the rim off the bounce, creates shots for others, and can light it up from deep. He strokes threes off the catch and puts you on your heels with his handles before knocking down pull-up threes. On the other end, he can also match up with almost anyone in the league and get it done. In recent wins, he’s put up 29 points (eight made threes), and 26 points and 11 rebounds.
Michael Gizzi | Austin Prep | 5’11” | Guard | 2021
As the team’s lead ball-handler, Gizzi plays his role to perfection. He takes great care of the ball, makes sure to feed his teammates, and is a capable scorer, who can get to the basket and knock down open shots. He’s also a terrific defender, who guards with intensity, has active hands, and gets a ton of steals. He’s constantly forcing turnovers, leading the break, and helping create easy buckets. In recent wins, he finished with 21 points and 7 steals, and 16 points and 8 rebounds.
Sammy Batista | St. Mary’s | Guard | 2021
Batista is a shifty lead-guard, who makes quick decisions and is tough to contain. He has a tight handle, keeps the defense off-balance with hesitations, and has a quick first step. He’s fearless attacking the basket, finishes through contact, can hit you with a euro step, swim move on the break, and keeps attacking all game long. He’s quick into his pull-up jumper and loves getting to his mid-range, but also hits pull-up threes. He gets after it on defense and has active hands. He dropped 27 points in a 63-62 win over D1 opponent Bridgewater-Raynham.
Will O’Malley | Archbishop Williams | Guard | 2021
O’Malley is a smart, skilled player, who can really shoot it. He has sound mechanics, a quick release, and mostly connects on catch-and-shoot jumpers. He hits mid-range and three-point jumpers off the dribble as well. He has a solid handle, makes the simple pass to the open teammate, and finishes well in transition. He gets his hands on passes, pushes it ahead at a good pace, and has excellent body control on finishes. In two of their wins this season, he’s finished with 24 points and 18 points.
Max Grenert | Bishop Fenwick | 6’4” | Forward | 2021
Grenert may very well be the most consistent three-point shooter I’ve seen so far this season. His jumper is quick, compact, automatic on catch-and-shoot threes, and with his length, he needs little space to get it off. Off the catch, he knocks down threes from and a standstill and moving off screens and he’s shown this season that he can hit jumpers off the dribble as well. He’s also a patient, reliable finisher around the rim, with most of his finishes coming off cuts and offensive rebounds. He’s recently had games of 20 points and 19 points.
