Love was remarkably difficult-to-move during Hale’s Friday match with Locust Grove as he was great defensively and added an important offensive presence, as well.
He protected the paint from numerous would-be scorers, primarily, though his energy was also very valuable for the Rangers. Love was present and aware, leading vocally and acting as the centerpiece for Hale’s defensive scheme.
Though he did not tally double-digits in the scoring margin, Love still drew defenders inside and allowed his teammates to get more outside looks while finishing well at the rim when he did shoot it.
Jake Bible | 2021 Locust Grove PG
A talented facilitator with shot-sinking skills, Bible was impressive for Locust Grove in a win against Tulsa Hale.
He scored 21 points, including a trio of 3-pointers in the match, though he did much more than just hit 3s; the senior guard hit transition shots out of the handle, got the ball into the hands of other scorers, and he was also pretty good when it came to passing the ball down-court.
Chance Condit | 2021 Adair C
Condit, a burly but mobile specimen, showcased his athleticism and strength against OKC Storm.
Offensively, he used his stature to power through opposing posts to get to the rack and score as he was the biggest player on the floor. Though he did not use many post moves, his bullying through the lane was sufficient in his 25-point game.
Defensively, Condit did everything right as far as keeping opposing tries away from the rim, but it was not necessarily his skill that set him apart as much as his energy.
A true hustle-player, Condit had zero quit in him during the match as he was still operating with fervor long after others had tired.
TJ Bennett TJ Bennett 5'11" | PG Garber | 2021 State OK t | 2021 Garber PG
One of the smoothest, sharpest players in small-school basketball, Bennett showed – presumably – everything in his bag against Verdigris.
The crafty scoring guard notched 16 points, including five 3-pointers and many more assists.
One of those assists came when Bennett came off a screen going right before dropping off a no-look, Nick Van Exel-esque behind-the-back wraparound pass from the free throw line to a cutting Ty Chester for an easy lay-in.
Bennett also created shots for himself out of the handle and sank them with easy, which gave Chester more room to score as he went on to drop 25 points in the post.
Brandon Lederman | 2021 Verdigris SF
Lederman combined with Haddock to form a deadly sharpshooting duo for Verdigris.
Scoring a team-high 16 points in the Cardinals’ second-half push, Lederman’s four-made 3-pointers helped to set the tone for Verdigris in its excellent late-game performance to advance to the championship game.
Trent Haddock | 2021 Verdigris SG
Likewise to Lederman, Haddock was impressive from the 3-point line, netting 14 points and hitting 100 percent of his free-throw attempts to help push the Cardinals to a victory.
