Trovary Cavil, Des Moines Lincoln (2024)
Having seen Cavil throughout the Fall session, I was not surprised to see him making a big impact for the Railsplitters on Saturday. I was actually more surprised by his slow start, but he didn’t let that effect his total game. Cavil ended the game with 10 points on 23.5% from the field. Understanding that that’s not a high percentage to shoot from the field, it wasn’t how he shot the ball it was the fact that a youngster such as Cavil was cognizant enough to know he had to help his team offensively. Though I want to see his FG% move up, I still liked what Cavil did on Saturday against Urbandale. He had 3 rebounds and 3 assists while running the show as a Freshman.
Ja’Vion Bell, Des Moines Lincoln (2024)
Starting alongside Cavil was fellow Freshman Ja’Vion Bell. The 6’4 post player was good against a frontline who most of the time was bigger than he is. He held his own and actually towards the end of the second half, Bell was one that came up with a big shot to give his team a boost. He would pull down 5 total rebounds and would hit a 3 point shot in the first half. He did well downlow and shot 80% from the field going 4/5 and finishing with 9 points.
