Adam Witty Adam Witty 6'2" | SF Des Moines Christian | 2022 State IA , Des Moines Christian High School (2022)
Though in terms of height Witty is undersized for the way he plays for the Lions, he does well in his role. In the game vs Van Meter before the Christmas break Witty went into break with a bang, tossing in 21 points from the floor on 9/11 shooting and 3/4 from the free throw line. Witty plays a post position for Des Moines Christian, and does well inside 15 feet using both hands around the hoop to go along with shot fakes and use of his body. He will be a key part to the Lion’s success the rest of the way.
Chris Schreck Chris Schreck 5'10" | PG Van Meter | 2022 State IA , Van Meter High School (2022)
Though in a losing effort, anyone watching the game against Des Moines Christian could argue Schreck was one of, if not, the best player on the court and required a lot of the attention from the Lion’s defense. Schreck ended the game with 20 points and 7 rebounds on 6/10 shooting from the field and 4/8 from 3. Schreck is an intriguing guard for the Bulldogs as he makes the offense go. He has good shooting range from the perimeter and if the defense comes out to guard he is capable of taking the ball to the rack to make things happen.
Casey Trudo, Van Meter High School (2022)
The other underclassmen who was impressive in the game against Des Moines Christian was Casey Trudo. A physical player who got a lot of points inside the 3 point line has good body control and absorbs contact well when at the hoop. Trudo would finish the game with 15 points on 6/14 shooting and added in a 3 point basket. He also had 4 rebounds and 4 assists for the Bulldogs. Between Trudo and Schreck the Bulldogs have a good duo to lead their team and work well together.
Oliver Hughes, North Scott High School (2022)
In the game against Assumption before the break, Hughes was a silent playmaker. He used efficiency and good shot making ability resulting in 12 points on 4/8 shooting from the field and more importantly 4/5 from the perimeter. Hughes obviously has the ability to make outside shots with a smooth shooting stroke off the catch. He is North Scott’s leading scorer through the season thus far, and pairing him with Landon Eiland Landon Eiland 6'4" | SF North Scott | 2021 State IA will be a good combo going forward.
JJ Stratman, Assumption High School (2022)
Efficiency was key in the game against North Scott as I stated above, and Stratman brought that to the table very well for the Knights. He was the biggest down the stretch with the way he was finding pockets of space for his teammates to pass him the ball and knock down the shot. Stratman finished the game with 14 points on 4/5 of shooting from the field and 1/1 from the 3 point line. The 6’2 guard is one to keep an eye on in the ’22 class with Assumption losing a lot of key players after this season.
