Hosted by recruiting legend, Gerry Freitas, the event featured grassroots programs from Washington, California, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. It also featured several guys that excelled while playing with energy and effort. In this article, we take a look at the top high motor players from the event.
Demke Smith 6’3 SG Arsenal 2024 (featured image) – Whether it was battling underneath for rebounds or diving on the floor, Smith gave max effort on everything. A first down the floor type, the blond-haired long-armed freshmen has some Demolition man, Dennis Rodman to his game.
Aden Curry Aden Curry 6'5" | SF Santa Cruz | 2023 State CA-N 6’3 SF Arsenal 2023 – I feel like Curry plays in every game. His sheer conditioning alone lands him on this list. He’s an extra possession getter that doesn’t mind sacrificing his body for his team.
CJ McMillian 6’6 PF Cap City Cougars 2021 – McMillian hit the floor a few times this week, I hope the floor is ok. The big-bodied post competed hard in every game I saw him play. The 6’6 forward was one of the top screen setters I saw on the week.
Matthew Butler 6’3 PF Taylor Made 2020 – Butler gives everything he has when he’s out there. The forward drives hard takes charges and will give up his body to snag a loose ball. Although undersized, don’t be surprised to see him battling down low against guys twice his size.
Malik Madison Malik Madison 6'8" | C Sacramento | 2021 State CA-N 6’9 C Saints 2021 – Madison would just not sacrifice a bucket without a fight. The long-armed center swatted everything in sight. He did a good job changing ends of the floor and was able to jump horizontally to grab out of area rebounds.
Louis Halliday 6’6 SF Team Lavine 2022 (#23PHW 2022) – For a guy that’s 6’6 Halliday can really move. He was one of the better wings at the event, slashing to the basket relentlessly to get buckets. It felt as if Halliday never stopped moving, driving to the basket on one end, while hustling for loose balls on the other.
