There still may be a glimmer of hope the season actually still goes on with a possible re-vote by the AIA committee or having it as an AAU season or the ABCA will just run it like they ran the Section-7 or Border League.
We move over to the top PG’s in 5A. Multiple POY candidates in this group!
Here are some of the top ones that will impact their teams:
Tony Elliott Jr Tony Elliott Jr 6'2" | PG Desert Mountain | 2021 State AZ (Desert Mountain) (Pictured)
-A long and athletic PG has grown his game and height. He plays the passing lanes and can get into the paint and flush it down. He can hit the 3 and he showed off his passing skills this off season.
Montez Taylor Montez Taylor 5'10" | PG Williams Field | 2021 State AZ (Williams Field)
-A jet quick PG can score it plus make plays for others. He is a blur in the open court, and arguably the fastest end to end player in the AIA. He uses his lateral quickness to be a ball hawk defensively.
Tampa Scott Tampa Scott 5'10" | PG Gilbert | 2021 State AZ (Gilbert)
-The heart and soul of the Tigers. He is tough and fearless from both ends of the court. He has good speed and can defend on the ball with quick feet and hands. He can shoot it from mid to the 3pt line and use a burst to get into the lane.
Ahamed Mohamed Ahamed Mohamed 6'0" | PG Apollo | 2022 State AZ (Apollo)
-A top-tier two-way PG and shooter. He can pull-up at anytime and he has a shifty handle to get passed his defender. He can make plays for others but he will be leaned on to score it for the Hawks.
Jake Lifgren Jake Lifgren 6'2" | CG Centennial | 2022 State AZ (Centennial)
-Another top scoring lead guard had some monster games in the Border League. He will be one of the main reasons the Coyotes make a deep playoff run, if they do have the season.
Pascal Volz Pascal Volz 6'1" | CG McClintock | 2022 State AZ (McClintock)
-The pure PG is about ready to breakout. He sees plays developing quickly and is one of the better 5A passers. His athleticism is slowly kicking in and he can shoot it from the perimeter.
Gabe Pickens Gabe Pickens 6'0" | PG Dream City Christian | 2024 State AZ (Millennium)
-A rare freshman PG starter in a big school is something you don’t see often, but Pickens is about to do just that. He has a tight handle and good strength already for his age. He gets through the hole quickly and can find open shooters. He can hit the 3 plus score it inside using his gifts.
