So we take a look at some of the top players in every conference.
We move over to the top PG’s in 4A. Like the 5A group, there are multiple POY candidates in this group!
Here are some of the top ones that will impact their teams:
Jalen Scott Jalen Scott 6'3" | PG Paradise Honors | 2021 State AZ (Paradise Honors)
-A dynamic play-maker is the best passer in the AIA. He has elite size for position and sees over the top and slings the ball around the court effortlessly into teammates shooting pockets. The Colorado State commit can get into the lane with his size and tight handle plus has improved his shooting off catch and dribble.
(Started last night with 20 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 8 steals!)
Keiren Brown Keiren Brown 6'4" | PG St. Mary’s | 2021 State TX (St. Mary’s) (Pictured)
-One of the more physical PG’s in the AIA. He loves attacking the basket and posting guards up with high efficiency. His best shot is currently his mid-range jumper and is a capable 3pt shooter. His feel for the game seems to improve steadily each year and can make plays for teammates.
Corey Perry Corey Perry 5'9" | PG Peoria | 2021 State AZ (Peoria)
-Their lone senior starter may be their PG in theory but this kid can shoot it. He does handle pressure well but if if you leave him open, he will knock down perimeter shots. He may be undersized but is feisty on defense and tough.
Adrian Banuelos Adrian Banuelos 5'9" | PG Desert Edge | 2021 State AZ (Desert Edge)
-The undersized scoring PG is a quick ball handler who can make plays for others and shoot it to the 3pt line. He can guide the oldest starting-5 in 4A to a deep run.
Nathan Calmese Nathan Calmese 6'2" | PG Mesquite | 2022 State AZ (Mesquite)
-An athletic scoring guard may lead the state in points this season. He is a three level scorer and uses his speed to get passed defenders and score it plus hit from deep. He also is a next level passer, which he will have to utilize to help his untested teammates.
Jason Fontenet Jr Jason Fontenet Jr 6'6" | CG Bella Vista Prep | 2023 State #255 Nation AZ (St. Mary’s)
-One of the top soph guards in 4A was a top-tier 6th man as a freshman and will be inserted into the starting-5 this season. He will score it from mid to the 3 and get downhill using his thicker frame. Keiren Brown Keiren Brown 6'4" | PG St. Mary’s | 2021 State TX and him form a tough 1-2 punch for the Knights.
(He scored 20 points last night)
Armari Carraway Armari Carraway 6'0" | PG San Joaquin Memorial | 2023 CA-N (Pueblo)
-A jet quick scoring guard will be their engine to lead them into the playoffs. He has real speed in the open court with the ball in his hands and can facilitate to his teammates. He also is a 3-level scorer with a mean pull-up off the dribble. The ball is on a string for him and it will be hard for anyone in Tucson to stay in front of him.
