Whether it be up north touching the Canadian border, or stretching all the way to Yellowstone National Park, one thing is sure: there is quality high school basketball being played somewhere nearby. As fans are packing gyms (while staying distant from one another), somebody is always showing me why they should be higher in the rankings as so many players are playing really well this season. Continue reading for a look at a handful of games from across the state in recent days.
North Fremont vs. Aberdeen: North Fremont has been quietly reminding everyone why they are one of the best teams in the state. They pushed themselves to 9-0 to begin the season with a commanding victory over Aberdeen, and they are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The Huskies have a very balanced attack and they are really solid on both sides of the ball. Against Aberdeen, North Fremont was able to rely on their defensive stops as they held Aberdeen to only scoring 5 points in the first quarter. North Fremont was led by a great scoring performance from Jordan Lenz Jordan Lenz 6'0" | PG North Fremont | 2022 State ID who contributed 26 points, as well as Luke Hill Luke Hill 5'11" | SG North Fremont | 2021 State ID and Hank Richardson adding 10 points a piece for the Huskies. On the opposing side, Aberdeen was led by Brody Beck putting in 19 points and another 11 points from Seth Hall.
Teton vs. Salmon: Teton put on an impressive beatdown of Salmon after putting up 93 points in total. The offensive showcase allowed Teton to cruise to a 30 point victory, despite giving up 63 points to Salmon. While this game may not have been a great display of defensive ability, the offensive side of things was not lacking for either team. Teton used a barrage of three pointers to disarm Salmon as they had two players make 5 three’s each, plus even more from the rest of the team. All in all, Salmon simply could not match Teton’s firepower and dropped a tough game. Salmon was led by Dillon Pilkerton contributing 23 points on a solid shooting night, Blazen Burgess adding 19 points, and Kaden Caywood rounding out double digit scorers with 12 points. For Teton, Jason Heuseveldt led the way with 21 points, Luke Thompson had 19 points, Hyrum Heuseveldt had 14 points, and Reid Nelson had 12 points.
