Mr. Basketball Candidate: Keyon MenifieldKeyonMenifield6'2" | PGFlint Beecher | 2021StateMI
There is too much talent that deserves to be mentioned, especially in a tough year like the one that we are experiencing. With a shortened season especially, you never know who might rise to the top. That being said, I’m going to give you 5 under the radar players that could make the type of run this season that puts them in contention for Mr. Basketball.
Parker DayParkerDay6'6" | PFSaginaw Heritage | 2021StateMI (PF, Saginaw Heritage)
The talent is there for the Grand Valley State University commit. I know that I personally fielded multiple inquiries from D1 coaches in regards to Day. He’s a versatile forward that can defend and compete in the paint, but also handle and draw the defense away from the rim.

Jihad sometimes flies under the radar, but the young man is a unique talent to say the least. He has all the intangibles - good positional size, length, and quickness. Jihad has all the skills needed to go off his senior year and put himself in the conversation for Mr. Basketball.
Blake LundBlakeLund6'1" | CGLinden | 2021StateMI (CG, Linden)
Let’s be real.....Lund has been so under ranked throughout high school. Tell me something that he doesn’t do well? He defends either guard spot intensely. Lund has a smooth and consistent jumper with range extending beyond the arc. He’s also a very high IQ player. Don’t look past him in the race for Mr. Basketball.
Aidan Rubio
AidanRubio6'6" | SFGoodrich | 2021StateMI (G/F, Goodrich)
Rubio has a real shot at this thing honestly. He’s been attacking his senior season in a way that most cannot or will not. Rubio is on a mission to prove all the doubters wrong, and he’s flat out doing it. I wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised if he’s in the Mr. Basketball conversation at the end of the year.
Omar ZieglerOmarZiegler6'5" | CGDetroit King | 2021StateMI (CG, Detroit King)
Ziegler deserves to be mentioned in the race for the award. First of all, he’s one of the best all around players in the most tradition rich basketball city in the state. Plus, Ziegler is a 2 way player, a grinder, and an unselfish team first player. Those qualities go a long way with this honor.
