The NCHSAA Season is finally underway giving us a glimpse at some freshmen off to hot starts. Here's a look at six prospects on the rise in the 2024 class.
Stevenson has put up 20 points each in Northwood High’s first two games of the season and he’s just a freshman. He’s shot 14-of-19 (74 percent) through the first two games while producing 20.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 1.5 spg. He’s slowly emerging as a top prospect in the class of 2024.
Powell had a quiet debut varsity game for Northwood but he went off for 17 points of 7-of-12 shooting against Southern Durham, though they came in a three point loss. He also had six rebounds, six assists and four steals, showing off his ability to contribute in a variety of ways. He’s another freshman at Northwood on the rise.
The Wayne Prep Generals have some prospects on the rise and one of those names is A’Mari Latham

Gibbs is a rising point guard prospect that excels on both ends. He’s posting 15.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.9 apg and 2.0 spg through his first nine appearances of his freshman season. He’s got a ton of room to grow in the class given his ability to get to the paint and the free throw line.

Walker is a prospect playing on both the regional and national squad for Winston-Salem Christian. He’s put up 15.0 ppg and 5.4 rpg for the regional squad, showing off his ability to use his size on the boards and in the paint to make his presence felt.

Romero was a familiar face on the Big Shots stage this past spring/summer and has carried a ton over to New Bern Christian. He’s putting up 10.9 ppg, 3.2 apg, 2.8 spg and 1.3 rpg as they’re 11-2 on the season and looking to make waves in the North Carolina Christian - South Conference.
