Prep Hoops Maryland recently updated the class of 2023 rankings, and now it’s time to take a closer look. Here is a brief rundown of all the bigs listed from the DC area.

#3 | [player_tooltip player_id="957018" first="Amani" last="Hansberry"] | St. John’s

Hansberry's production spoke for itself throughout his freshman campaign at St. John's. He was a double-double machine and held his own against top-level competition.

#10 | [player_tooltip player_id="957036" first="Marcel" last="Gardner"] | St. Andrew’s

Gardner has drastically improved since he first popped on the radar at the Capitol Hoops Summer League prior to his freshman season. He will be a two-way difference-maker in the MAC for years to come.

#13 | [player_tooltip player_id="957035" first="Chris" last="Russell"] | Sidwell Friends

Russell has established a reputation as a flat out workhorse. He makes an impact in every game simply as a result of his unrelenting effort. Sidwell probably hasn't had a man in the middle with his type of athleticism since Ross Young was a Quaker.

#31 | [player_tooltip player_id="1049867" first="Anthony" last="Davenport"] | St. John’s

Davenport is going to surprise some folks in the WCAC whenever play does resume. The Richard Montgomery transfer is an intriguing long-term prospect with great tools and underrated touch.

#45 | [player_tooltip player_id="1114026" first="Ty" last="Mason"] | Bishop Walsh

Mason is a throwback big man who moves bodies in the paint and can score with his back to the basket. He'll benefit from the experience of playing a national schedule in the NIBC.

#46 [player_tooltip player_id="1049847" first="Joseph" last="Mupoyi"] | Archbishop Carroll

Mupoyi is a forceful paint presence who excels as a rebounder and rim protector. He's had some nice moments with Team Durant so we're expecting him to be a key contributor at Carroll.

#54 | [player_tooltip player_id="1114068" first="Liech" last="Kong"] | Rock Creek Christian

By all accounts, Kong deserves praise for his play this winter. The Wakefield transfer has great hands and plays with a high motor. Kong's long-term outlook is certainly promising given how much he's improved in a short time.
