Nick Martinelli Nick Martinelli 6'6" | SF Glenbrook South | 2022 State #235 Nation IL (Glenbrook South)
Martinelli is one of the fastest rising prospects in the 2022 class. Currently doesn’t hold any offers, but just wait until college coaches see him in person that will change quickly. The schools he is in the most communication with include Yale, Belmont, Florida Atlantic, Bucknell, Lehigh, Miami (OH), and St. Thomas. Other schools in contact include UCSD, Southern Illinois, Air Force, Holy Cross, Princeton, and Columbia.
Dylan Arnett Dylan Arnett 6'9" | PF DePaul Prep | 2022 State IL (DePaul Prep)
Arnett is a versatile post that emerged this fall with his play at the Illinois Wolves scrimmages with his shooting from deep and athleticism in the paint. He tells PHI the schools that are in the most contact are Utah State, Drake, Holy Cross, Belmont, Florida Atlantic, and Santa Clara. He has conducted Zoom calls with Santa Clara and Southern Illinois. He walked us through what he likes about each. “What I like about Santa Clara is it’s in a great location and how all of the coaches have reached out and talked to me and told me in detail how their program is and their new athletic facility.” On SIU he said, “What stands out to me about SIU is the connection with the Wolves with Coach Mullins sons coaching there and how I would know some of the players there and how it is still close to home.”
Cooper Noard Cooper Noard 6'2" | PG Glenbrook South | 2022 State IL (Glenbrook South)
Martinelli’s floor general is Noard. Shot maker that runs a team with confidence. He tells PHI that the schools he is talking to the most are Valparaiso, Yale, Princeton, Miami (OH), and Appalachian State.
Bobby Durkin Bobby Durkin 6'6" | SF Hinsdale South | 2022 State IL (Hinsdale South)
Durkin is a skilled wing that can shoot it at a high level and his athleticism is quickly improving. He is in regular talks with Yale and Brown. On those programs he said, “I like what they are telling me about their style of play, culture, facilities, and academic record.” Others he has heard from are Dartmouth, Air Force, Lehigh, UW Parkside, Hillsdale, and Lewis.
Damari Wheeler-Thomas Damari Wheeler-Thomas 6'0" | PG Larkin | 2022 State IL (Larkin)
Wheeler-Thomas is a dynamic lead guard with the ball in his hands using his handles to score and set up others. The Larkin guard says the schools he is hearing from the most right now are Colorado State and Yale. What does he like about Colorado State? “I’d say their play style and the family vibes.” How about Yale? “That I’d be challenged in school.” He holds offers from Detroit, Chicago State, and Grambling State.
Xavier Amos Xavier Amos 6'7" | PF Whitney Young | 2022 State #233 Nation IL (Whitney Young)
Amos is an upside power forward with physical tools and an emerging skill set. The two programs he is in the most contact with are Colorado State and Tulsa. “These are the schools that have reached out to me. We’re just establishing a relationship. I haven’t really seen their program or anything.” Santa Clara had also talked to him previously.
Caden Pierce Caden Pierce 6'5" | SG Glenbard West | 2022 State IL (Glenbard West)
Pierce is a skilled shooting guard that can let it fly from deep and does the little things that help teams win. When it comes to who he is in the most communication with Pierce says it is Drake, Santa Clara, Colorado State, Utah State, Yale, Belmont, UIC, and Wisconsin Milwaukee. He holds UIC and Wisconsin Milwaukee offers. He broke down each starting with UIC. “I like that the coaching staff is super energetic and motivating plus it’s also really close to home.” How about Wisconsin-Milwaukee? “I have a really good relationship with the head coach and I checked out the campus a few weeks ago and really enjoyed that.” He has done Zoom visits with UIC and Santa Clara. How was that Santa Clara zoom visit? “It was really cool. I got to know the coaching staff a lot better and they showed me their brand new facilities as well as parts of their campus.”
Tye Banks Tye Banks 6'4" | SG Springfield Lanphier | 2022 IL (Springfield Lanphier)
Banks is a rock solid shooting guard from central Illinois that was primed for a breakout season. He says he is talking the most with Colorado State, Tulsa, and Minnesota Duluth. None have offered yet. What does he like about Colorado State? “They were one of the first colleges to text me. Me and Coach Blount always have a good conversation about the school and what’s going on down here.” How about Tulsa? “Their team stands out to me and they have some big wins on the season.”
