Isaiah Hoyt Isaiah Hoyt 6'1" | CG Wilmot | 2021 State WI (6’1 2021 PG, Wilmot)- After a strong sophomore year at The Prairie School, Isaiah had to sit out last season due to his transfer, but is back for his senior season at Wilmot. In the two games I saw, Isaiah combined for 25 points, scoring the ball in an efficient manner. He could shoot from three off the catch, hit the one/two dribble pull-up from mid-range, or use his shifty handle to get to the rim and finish. Isaiah is a solid athlete, has long arms that allow him to make plays defensively, and is an unselfish player capable of creating for his teammates. Hoyt has a versatile skillset that can make him a valuable player at the next level.
Tre Burris Tre Burris 5'8" | SG Martin Luther | 2021 State WI (6’1 2021 G, Martin Luther)- A flashy, electrifying guard who can make big plays for himself and his teammates, Tre was impressive going up against Division 1 competition on Racine St. Cat’s. He showed that he can play off the ball and stretch the floor with his range, but looked at his best with the ball in his hands. Tre has a flashy handle that allows him to weave through defenders, and was able to get to the rim with ease to finish, or draw in the help defender and dish it off to the open man to score. Tre finished with 11 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals, proving that he can play with talented teammates, and hold his own with high level competition.
Devin Griffin (5’11 2022 PG, Westosha Central)- Devin’s made some nice improvements to his game since his sophomore season, and it showed in the two games I watched last week. He’s a deceptively quick player able to hesitate and then change speed to attack gaps in the defense, and once in the lane he’s a crafty finisher who can score over size. Most impressive was his ability to handle under pressure, and thread the needle to set up his teammates to score. Not only is he able to find the open man, but he has the ability to pass a player open as an accurate passer. Devin is an intelligent player, a leader on the floor, and makes the hustle plays defensively that help his team win.
Dan Gherezgher Dan Gherezgher 6'1" | SG Brookfield East | 2022 State WI (6’3 2022 W, Brookfield East)- A player who’s really been on the rise since this fall, Daniel has a combination of length, athleticism, and shooting touch that will make him a valuable player for Brookfield East the next two seasons. In a big win over Fond du Lac, Dan used his long arms to cause disruptions on the defensive end, with one steal leading to a dunk in the open floor. He was able to make plays moving off the ball and cutting to the rim, or using his handle and change of direction to attack the basket from the top of the key to score. Finished with 15 points in the win.
Noah Daniels (6’4 2022 W, New Berlin West)- A really solid all-around player, Noah put up an impressive 26 points and 13 rebounds against St. John’s NW Academies. Noah has an aggressive approach to the game, and is a fluid athlete who can weave through defenders on his way to the hoop. At 6’4 he has some solid size on the wing, and that length at the high school level makes him hard to stop when he makes his way into the paint. I really liked his effort to compete on the glass, and awareness to move off the ball and find open space on the perimeter to get off clean looks from three.
Gavin Zawicki (6’1 2022 W, Racine Lutheran)- A really solid athlete on the wing, Gavin scores in an efficient manner, and is a competitor on both ends of the floor for Racine Lutheran. Though a bit undersized on the wing, he makes up for it with his athleticism and work ethic, and does a good job of taking smart shots around the rim. In a win over Shoreland Lutheran he put up 24 points on 10-13 shooting, doing a good job of getting his man on his hip to get a clean look around the rim.
Kevin Sandman (5’10 2021 G, Wilmot)- After a strong junior year, Kevin is off to a quick start to his senior campaign at Wilmot. A three level scoring threat, Sandman scored 30 points against a tough Burlington squad. Kevin did a good job of picking his spots on the floor, and elevates on his pull-up jumper to get his shot up over longer defenders, and he hit from mid-range at a high percentage. He’s not the biggest or most athletic player on the floor, changes pace really well on his crossover to create separation to shoot or get to the rim.
