Clark Fork vs. Genesis Prep: The Wampus Cats from Clark Fork ran into a tough Genesis Prep team that has seen its fair share of state titles in recent years. Genesis Prep was able to pull away by the end of the game and ended up winning by a margin of 26 points. For the Wampus Cats, Cameron Garcia was able to help lead the team by scoring 18 points on tough baskets, but it was not enough to overcome the Jaguars. Eli Gonzales chipped in 23 points on a spectacular shooting night for Genesis Prep, and Nathan Weeks also put up 21 points in the non-conference contest.
Sandpoint vs. Timberlake: A young Sandpoint team was able to secure their first victory of the season after defeating a tough Timberlake team. The Sandpoint Bulldogs have a very young roster and they are looking to make improvements this season in order to prepare for March. The Bulldogs were led by a balanced scoring attack with the only two players reaching double figures being Darren Bailey (11 points) and Rusty Lee (10 points). On the other side, Timberlake struggled against the higher level competition and they will feel much more at home against their conference rivals. The Tigers were led by Zach Yetter Zach Yetter 5'9" | PG Timberlake | 2022 State ID posting a 13 point performance and Ethan Riley leading all scorers with 16 points.
In the upcoming days, a lot more basketball action will be kicking off across the state and the season will begin to take shape as basketball returns to Idaho.
