Players often times just move instinctually down the floor and some players are just better at it than others. We take a mini dive of some players that we have seen that are just a hard cover in transition.
Noa Gonzalves
6’2 PG Class of 2021
Lehi High School
Dixie State University
Noa is a so mild mannered and he makes it all look effortless, yet he has that killer instinct. He has that instinctual transition game where he knows how to use his angles in a way that the defender can’t alter what he is trying to do. Noa has the ability to look like he is finishing at one side of the rim but end up on the other side. He doesn’t weave in and out with the ball in his hands, he simply attacks and changes directions at the point of attack.
Calvin Gustafson Calvin Gustafson 6'7" | PF Mountain View | 2021 State UT
6’8 W Class of 2021
Mountain View High School
Calvin comes to us via Arizona. He has a different style of play. Bets way to classify it is “Bully Ball”. He likes to get to his spots in the mid-short-corner and use his shoulder to lean forward on shots to create contact and possible get a lot of And 1’s. Great D2/NAIA prospect. Could be a solid find or get for anything lower than that. He loves going to his right and finishing up with his left again.
Isaac Finlinson Isaac Finlinson 6'6" | CG Dixie | 2021 State UT
6’4 PG Class of 2021
Dixie High School
This kid just gets better with age. He was a very high IQ player at a young age getting major varsity reps. He is now a senior and this kid knows how to open up and let his teammates run their lanes. He is not that player that will put his head down and go straight to the rim, he will find the best option even if it’s not him. he has an unselfish style of play. He also gets the ball out quick and often time it finds it’s way back into his hands. Great prospect. Wouldn’t be surprised to find him on a D1 roster at some point.
Kobe Schriver
5’10 PG Class of 2021
Roy High School
Kobe is a threat to score when he ha the ball in his hands as he is shifty and he is always low to the ground which makes it difficult to stay in-front of him. He has the freedom to play all ove the floor and be effective. He looks to push under control. The kid just finds ways to score.
Trace Ross Trace Ross 6'3" | PG Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT
6’3 PG Class of 2021
Corner Canyon Canyon High School
Trace is difficult to defend in the open court because he is fast, strong and shifty. he will get into your body and bounce off and up at the rim. He will pull up for three in transition as well. He can find cutters and he has a team that runs with him. Trace knows how to use his body and time his change of speed to keep defenders off balance. Tough cover in transition.
Jordan Toscano Jordan Toscano 6'1" | PG Bingham | 2021 State UT
6’0 PG Class of 2021
Bingham High School
Jordan is one of the shiftiest players laterally out there. His mid-range in transition is dangerous. He also finds ways to flip up layups with some major spin that find their way in. He also has a nice tough to finish high off the glass against bigger athletic defenders trying to block his shot. Jordan can also keep his dribble alive when he is stopped by transition defense but he can get out of it and make something positive happen.
Talon Valdes Talon Valdes 6'0" | PG Juan Diego | 2021 State UT
6’0 PG Class of 2021
Juan Diego High School
Speed kills and Talon kills anyone trying to catch him in transition. His change of pace and angles at the rim that might seem like awkward finishes are high percentage for him. He is showing more confidence with his shot in transition, but he is really dangerous just taking one angle and that is straight to the basket.
