Kaeden Bonner Kaeden Bonner 6'1" | SG Seaman | 2023 State KS , sophomore, Seaman:
None were more heroic than Bonner, who caught a kickout with about 4 seconds on the clock in double overtime and launched a 27-footer that lifted the Vikings over Highland Park 66-63. Bonner was even bigger at the end of regulation and in the two overtimes. Twice he picked the pocket of Highland Park ball handlers as they tried to run out the clock. He also forced a turnover in the lane late. Each turnover led to points that kept Seaman in the game.
Ty Henry Ty Henry 6'3" | SG Seaman | 2022 State KS , junior, Seaman (pictured):
The door was open for Bonner’s final shot because of the heroic work of Henry in the second half and in the two overtimes. When the Vikings fell behind in the third period, Henry stepped up and put the team on his back. Throughout the second half, he found creases in the defense and penetrated for pull up jumpers After going scoreless in the first half, Henry torched Highland Park for 18 points and the key assist to Bonner at the buzzer.
Jahi Peppers Jahi Peppers 5'9" | CG Highland Park | 2021 State KS , senior, Highland Park:
Peppers engaged in a thrilling back-and-forth with Henry throughout the second half Tuesday. Peppers scored 19 of his 24 points after halftime.
Tre Alexander Tre Alexander 6'3" | CG Topeka West | 2021 State KS , senior, Topeka West:
Alexander continued his brilliant start to the season. Tuesday he led the Chargers with 28 points, then picked off a Shawnee Heights pass to deny them a chance to tie the game with two seconds remaining in double overtime.
Isiah Johnson Isiah Johnson 5'10" | CG Shawnee Heights | 2021 State KS , senior, Shawnee Heights:
Johnson’s T-Birds came up short in the double-overtime loss to Topeka West, but Johnson was heroic in his own right. He followed up his 32-point night Friday with 29 as he tried to keep pace with the Chargers.
Jack Hutchinson Jack Hutchinson 6'1" | CG Washburn Rural | 2021 State KS , senior, Washburn Rural:
Hutchinson’s 4-5 from beyond the arc provided offensive firepower to fuel Rural’s 60-47 win over Hayden. Hutchinson turned in his second 16 point outing in a row.
Geivonnii Williams, senior, Hayden:
One player whose heroics finally ran out was Williams. After torching opponents with 17 and 35 points in the Wildcats’ first two wins, Williams couldn’t lead Hayden to a third consecutive win. But he did put up 19, including 10-11 from the line.
