Continue ReadingThis year’s junior class will be hoping that high school basketball will be back to normal by the time they are seniors so that they can show all that they’ve got without needing to worry about anything other than playing ball. The class of 2022 is loaded with lots of talent and I believe I have culminated my list of the top 3 players in the state, though I do feel that there are at least a handful of other players who definitely deserve to be on this list as well. As the 2020-21 season is quickly approaching, I think that the junior class may produce some of the most impactful players this year and I think the 2021-22 season will showcase even more how great these players are. Continue reading for my list of the top 3 players from the class of 2022 in the state of Idaho in no particular order.
Jack Payne Jack Payne 6'5" | SF Boise | 2022 State ID , Boise: Payne is one of the best players in the state, regardless of age or classification. He can do it all on the court and he is a truly special talent. Payne is a gifted rebounder who throws some of the best outlet passes I have ever seen while also being able to hold his own on the offensive end. Jack is a tremendous passer that sees the court with excellent vision, and he finishes extremely well around the rim with either hand. Watch for Payne to be a great leader for the Brave this season as he improves his efficiency and looks to command Boise to another state appearance.
Titus Yearout Titus Yearout 6'3" | PG Lapwai | 2022 State ID , Lapwai: Titus, in my opinion, may be the best scorer in the state. He is a true floor general and leads a great Lapwai team by providing them with a ton of scoring, great court vision and lots of assists, tremendous rebounding ability for a guard, and a relentless motor that allows him to play great defense throughout the game. Yearout can score at all three levels with ease and he does an excellent job of putting his teammates in positions to score. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to defend any guards by applying lots of pressure for the entire game.
Bayler Perrin Bayler Perrin 5'7" | PG Mountain View | 2022 State ID , Mountain View: A sleeper in the state of Idaho, Bayler is often overlooked before even stepping foot on the floor when he does not pass the eye-test. Do not let this fool you, however, as Perrin will be a leader for the Mavericks this season. He is a tremendous scorer that can get going in a hurry, and once he sees one shot go in, it doesn’t take long for many more to follow. Look for Perrin to emerge as one of the best players in the state this season while leading Mountain View.
