Conference Commentary
Potential Top Ten in State – Annandale, Litchfield
Annandale and Litchfield will start the season just outside of the top ten in Class AA with a two week stretch of good play from entering the rankings. Annandale brings back four starters from a team that won 20 games a season ago plus they added a solid transfer from Maple Grove that will add shooting and depth. Litchfield won 18 games a year ago and also brings back four starters. They don’t quite have as much talent back as the Cardinals but it’s close. The games between these two teams this year should be excellent.
Compete with Most – HLWW, Glencoe-Silver Lake, Rockford
HLWW is the new team in the league and they bring back their guards from a solid team but lose their size. Rockford also lost their size and by size I mean modern day hoops giants of height or strength. Rockford has some of the best guards and wings in the league in their rotation this year plus Ryan Boysen Ryan Boysen 5'11" | PG Rockford | 2021 State MN is the best player in the league this season. GSL has the most promise with an experienced group that won half of their games a year ago. GSL only lost one guy from last year’s team.
Rebuilding – Dassel-Cokato, New London-Spicer, Watertown-Mayer
The Royals were a solid team last year but they graduated most of their top contributors including all of their starters. There are some bench pieces back but with a while new starting five that’s a rebuild. D-C and New London-Spicer each one a single game in the league play last year so they will be taking a step to improve – hopefully – as their rebuild continues.
