There will certainly be other teams that make a run and improve as the season goes on. This will be one of the more balanced Regions in ND. Check out these great guards and skilled post players in Region 8. It is going to be a fun ride!
Alphabetically, here are our players to watch in Region 8:
Bo Thingvold (2021) |6-1 G| Bowbells/Burke County – Hard worker that never gives up. He is a great rebounder for his size. Bo is aggressive on the offensive end that gets to feet in the paint and makes things happen. Bo is a nice defender with quick hands. Expect him to tally up many steals this year. Look for him to have a nice senior season and be in contention for an All-Region selection.
Caleb Erickson (2021) |6-5 F| Bowbells/Burke County – A stat filler and hustler. He will be a double-double player consistently throughout the season. Caleb is a gritty tough kid. He uses his body well when working around the paint. Nothing will come easy for the opposing team when Caleb is matched up with them. Look for Caleb to be one of the top rebounders in Region 8 this year.
Dawson Fleck Dawson Fleck 5'10" | PG Williston Trinity | 2023 State ND (2023) |5-9 G| Williston Trinity Christian – A true leader even though he will only be a sophomore. He is a young point guard that is mature beyond his years. Dawson has extreme range with his 3-point shot. He can put them in from beyond the college line. He has a nice floater game that will give opposing defenders fits this year. Look for him to be the one of best young point guards in Region-8.
Jaden McNeilley (2021) |5-10 G| Kenmare – A player with true grit who will never quits. He will be the primary ball-handler for the Honkers this season. Jaden can hit the open jumper and distribute the basketball. He is a high-energy player that hustles all over the court. Look for him to be one of the best on-ball defenders in the entire Region.
Jesse White Jesse White 5'11" | PG White Shield | 2021 State ND (2021) |5-11 G| White Shield – A prolific scorer that has a great motor. Aside from being one of the best shooters in ND he has excellent handles and is a skilled passer. Jesse can cash in 3’s from NBA range effortlessly. He is un-guardable with one defender. As a 5-11 guard he is athletic enough to dunk it on fast breaks. Look for Jesse to be an All-State player and the Region-8 Senior Athlete of the Year.
Lane Caraballo Lane Caraballo 6'3" | SF Divide County | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 F| Divide County – Expect a boost in his scoring numbers this year. He has a nice soft touch around the rim. Lane is a good athlete that has great body control in the paint. He has a nice pull-up game and can post up smaller defenders. Look for him to be one of the breakout players this season in Region 8.
Lawrence Polanco Lawrence Polanco 5'11" | SG Parshall | 2022 State ND (2022) |5-11 G| Parshall – A stellar athlete that brings energy every game. He is a D-stopper and playmaker. Lawrence has a great work ethic. Expect his offense and defense to be improved this year. He runs the show on the court as the lead guard for the Braves. Lawrence will put up big numbers this year in the scoring column. Look for him to be one of the most exciting players to watch in Region 8 this season.
Lucas Holter (2021) |6-2 G| Kenmare – A solid guard who does everything. He can score inside and outside. Lucas is a consistent shooter from the perimeter. He has a good understanding of the game and makes the smart play. Defensively he is always in the right position and is a playmaker. Look for him to be one of the most underrated guards in the Region.
Noah Frederickson (2021) |6-0 G| Powers Lake – A skilled shooter from deep. He has a very mature looking shot that is one of the best in ND. His range extends beyond the college arc. Noah can finish with both hands around the rim. Expect his defense to improve this year and to be the Rancher’s top rebounder. Look for Noah to be an All-Region player and have one of the best shots in North Dakota.
Tanner Severance Tanner Severance 6'0" | SG Lewis & And Clark North Shore/Plaza | 2022 State ND (2022) |5-11 G| Lewis & Clark North Shore/Plaza – A quick guard who will be a balanced player on O and D. He is a quick smart athlete. Expect Tanner to play a much bigger role this season on the offensive end. Look for him to light it up outside and be one of the better shooters in the Region by the end of the season.
Tyson Enget Tyson Enget 5'11" | PG Powers Lake-Burke Central | 2023 State ND (2023) |5-9 G| Powers Lake – Great defender who thrives on jumping passing lanes. He is a turnover machine on D. Tyson is great in transition and finishes with creativity. He runs the show for the Ranchers. This young guard is a spark plug that could propel this talented team to the State Tournament. Look for him to be the one of best young point guards in Region-8.
Wyatt Caraballo Wyatt Caraballo 6'0" | SG Divide County | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-0 G| Divide County – A nice guard who plays fast early and often. He will run the show for this up-and-coming team. Wyatt has a nice first step and excels when he gets downhill. He can hit the 3 if the D leaves him alone. Look for him to be one of the toughest backcourt defenders in the area.
