However, there are many other talented teams and players in the Region who have their eyes set on the State Tournament. The first games can be played on December 14th. Be on the watch for an exciting and entertaining year of hoops in Region 4!
Alphabetically, here are our players to watch in Region 4:
Blayne Anderson Blayne Anderson 6'2" | SF Benson County | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-2 G| Benson County – A good athlete who can push the tempo. This lefty can hit the 3-ball. Blayne excels at slashing to the basket and finishing with his athleticism. Expect big things from him on the defensive side this year. Look for Blayne to have a breakout year and be an All-Region player.
Bronson Walter Bronson Walter 6'10" | C Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-10 F| Four Winds/Minnewaukan – A force to be reckoned with. He is too big and strong for opposing teams to guard him with one player. Bronson is a disruptor and rim protector on the defensive side. He is a legitimate shooter from mid-range with a soft touch. Look for him to be an All-State player and in the running for Region-4 Senior Athlete of the year.
Ethan Morin Ethan Morin 6'2" | SG Dunseith | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-0 G| Dunseith – Great court vision and handles the rock with confidence. He is an exceptional shooter. Ethan can also distribute the ball and make his teammates better. Posting up opposing guards is another strength for this do-it-all Dragon. He is a strong guard who has the body control to finish through contact. Look for him to be an All-Region selection and his team to make a big push come playoff time.
Evan Ulrich Evan Ulrich 6'7" | C New Rockford-Sheyenne | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-7 F| New Rockford/Sheyenne – A big man who will drill the 3 if you give him space. Dominating on the glass is what he does. He is big and strong, and he also has a nose for the ball. Evan can finish around the rim with both hands. He has a plethora of moves in and around the paint that result in buckets. Look for him to be one of the elite big men in the area and an All-Region selection.
Grant Romfo Grant Romfo 6'1" | SF Langdon/Edmore/Munich | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-1 G| Langdon/Edmore/Munich – Spot up shooter who will make you pay if you give him an inch. He cashes in early and often from 3-point land with great feet and even better form. Grant has a great feel for the game and moves well without the ball. He is unselfish with the ball which leads to easy points for the Cardinals. Look for Grant to make an abundance of 3’s this year and be selected as an All-Region player.
Jaeshaun Shaw Jaeshaun Shaw 5'11" | SG Four Winds | 2021 State ND (2021) |5-10 G| Four Winds/Minnewaukan – A lock-down defender who never quits. He wears down opposing guards with his relentlessness and will to win. Jaeshaun is also skilled on the offensive side and can put up points. He will get out on the wing and score many buckets in transition this year. Look for him to be one of the top all-around guards in Region-4 this season.
Jayden Yankton Jayden Yankton 6'1" | SG Four Winds/Minnewaukan | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-1 G| Four Winds/Minnewaukan – A pure shooter who has unlimited range. He can shoot the lights out from beyond the arc. Jayden can also put it on the floor and finish at the rim. Expect him to get to the free-throw line more often this year and become an all-around scorer. Look for him to be one of the best 3-point shooters in the State regardless of class.
Michael Dunn Michael Dunn 6'1" | SG St. John | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-2 G| St. John – Super athletic player who can jump out of the gym. He has a long quick first step and can get out and fly down the floor. His jumper has been improving, so expect him to put up big numbers on the O end. Michael will make many electric highlight-reel plays throughout the year. Look for him to be one of the elite playmakers in Region-4.
Mitchell Leas (2023) |5-11 G| Rolla – A gifted scorer with a quick release from deep. He is a pickpocket on D that leads to layups on the other end. Mitchell can finish amongst the trees in the lane with his elusiveness and crafty shot-making ability. He is a solid ballhandler and distributor of the basketball. Look for him to be one of the top young guards in the Region.
Simon Romfo Simon Romfo 6'1" | SG Langfond-Edmore-Munich | 2021 State ND (2021) |5-11 G| Langdon/Edmore/Munich – Strong guard who should be the primary ball-handler this year for his team. He is a solid shooter who can stretch the floor. Simon can be the straw that stirs the drink for the Cardinals this year. He is an advantageous defender which leads to turning over the opposing team. Look for him to be one of the best all-around backcourt players in the Region.
