Previously, I broke down the top 50-41, and 40-31 players from the OK Conference. Today, I broke down the top 30-21 players. Be sure to look out for my next couple of posts which will wrap up my top 50 list.
30. Trey Bolling Trey Bolling 6'7" | C East Grand Rapids | 2021 State MI , 6’7″ F, East Grand Rapids 2021″
Trey is a weapon in the paint offensively thanks to the barrage of post moves he can deploy on a given night. He plays with purpose and physicality and does so at a high level. His aggressive play is also seen on the defensive end, showing off his natural ability to block shots both in the paint and out on the perimeter.
29. Koby Vanderwoude Koby Vanderwoude 5'11" | PG Caledonia | 2021 State MI , G, Caledonia 2021″
Koby has solidified himself as one of the top point guards in the area due to the momentum he carried over from last season into the grassroots cycle and into this season. He’s a knockdown shooter from three and has the confidence to take his shot whenever he has the ball. Koby’s continued development as a scorer has progressed to a point where his dribble-drive is as much of a threat as shooting and passing abilities.
28. Connor Dykema Connor Dykema 6'7" | PF Grand Rapids South Christian | 2021 State MI , 6’7″ F, South Christian 2021″
Connor has a long frame, which should continue to fill out as he develops. His size allows him to finish above the rim, and create stops defensively. He’s a plus scorer in the post thanks in large part to his footwork in the paint. He takes good angles, which often result in high-percentage shots. He’s flashed the ability to score in dribble-drive situations, and an ability to score from the perimeter. When Connor has his entire offensive repertoire clicking, he’s one of the hardest players to guard in the area
.
27. George Hatchet, G, Forest Hills Central 2021″
The first thing that pops out about George’s game is his lateral quickness on defense. It’s not a stretch to dub George as a top-five, if not the best on-ball defender in the area. He gets after his opponents on every possession and has the endurance to do it for a full game. Offensively, George uses his quickness to get downhill in a hurry on dribble drives. His ability to absorb contact and finish at the rim is a plus and is something that Forest Hills Central can rely on when they need a bucket.
26. Tommy Gregwer Tommy Gregwer 6'3" | CG Grandville | 2021 State MI , 6’4″ G, Grandville 2021″
Tommy has one of the quickest and smoothest shot releases in the area and fills it up game in and game out. He’s simply a knockdown shooter in all facets of the game; spot-up, off the dribble, and in pull-up situations. The future Aquinas Saint also has a great handle and can create offense for both himself and others. Tommy’s basketball IQ is also seen defensively, as he does a great job of reading and reacting to passes and creating turnovers for Grandville.
25. Kendall Smith Kendall Smith 6'8" | SF Muskegon Reeths-Puffer | 2021 State MI , 6’8″ F, Reeths-Puffer 2021″
Kendall has caught the attention of several NAIA programs this past year due to his overall size, strength, and athleticism. He’s shown he can create his own shot and finish above the rim with regularity. He plays with an aggressive demeanor on both sides of the court and seems to excel in big-game situations. His outside shot is still developing, but he’s shown he’s more than capable of knocking down those shots when given the opportunity.
24. Conner West, 5’11” G, Sparta 2021″
Conner is a smooth player with one of the best pull-up jumpers in the 2021″ class. He plays with great pace and does a good job of exploiting the defender’s weakness. His iso game is advanced and should continue to develop into what is already an impressive offensive arsenal. Conner is also an impressive passer, especially in transition opportunities. His ability to push the ball to his teammates, creating high percentage shot opportunities at or near the rim is a big benefit to his game.
23. Kaleb Mitchelson Kaleb Mitchelson 6'2" | CG Muskegon Reeths-Puffer | 2021 State MI , 6’2″ G, Reeths-Puffer 2021″
Several college programs are noticing Kaleb’s game and for good reason. He has the ball on a string and almost always makes the correct play offensively, whether that be to take a high-percentage shot or pass to his teammates. Kaleb plays with a calm demeanor and typically takes what the defense gives him. In addition to his in-game intangibles, he has a solid 6’1″ frame which he uses to create separation to find his shot.
22. Gavin Fisher Gavin Fisher 6'6" | SF Forest Hills Northern | 2021 State MI 6’6″ G/F, Forest Hills Northern 2021″
Gavin transferred to Forest Hills Northern this off-season, bringing a three-level scoring threat to the Huskies. Gavin has a good looking shot from the perimeter and can create his own shot off the dribble. His lanky frame allows him to convert tough shots in unorthodox ways. Defensively, Gavin reacts well in the paint and uses his length to block or otherwise alter shots. His playmaking ability coupled with his length and athleticism are eye-opening on film and make him a great prospect at the next level.
21. Jalen Overway Jalen Overway 6'8" | PF Holland Christian | 2022 State MI , 6’9″ F, Holland Christian 2022″
Jalen is one of the most promising bigs the west side of the state has to offer. Jalen has good footwork and light feet when playing in the paint. Jalen also has flashed the ability to knock down the consistent mid-range shot as well as some looks from beyond the arch. One area that Jalen improved on this summer is his passing ability. Being able to read defenses and put his teammates in position to score off cuts is a huge asset.
