Hernandez had a great start to this game and scored eight of Independence’s 13 points in the first quarter. He finished with 22 points and kept Independence close for the majority of the game. Hernandez’s jumper off the dribble looked excellent. Hernandez was automatic from mid-range and these shots were all contested. He also did a great job of anticipating passes and getting steals in the passing lanes. Hernandez is an excellent floor general and he makes high-I.Q. passes that only he can make. He throws great skip passes and seemingly has eyes on the back of his head.
Cooper Sisco Cooper Sisco 6'4" | SG Frisco Wakeland | 2021 State TX – Wakeland – G
Cooper Sisco Cooper Sisco 6'4" | SG Frisco Wakeland | 2021 State TX finished with 25 points in the win and was a force to be reckoned with on the offensive end of the floor. Sisco has always been known as a knockdown shooter but in this game he did it all offensively. He scored well in transition, got to the basket, and moved well without the ball. Sisco took over for the Wolverines in the second half and was the best player in the gym.
Kyle Jones Kyle Jones 6'2" | PG Frisco Independence | 2021 State TX – Independence – G/F
Jones is a lengthy wing that has the ability to defend multiple positions and is skilled offensively. In Independence’s loss to Independence, Jones finished with 18 points and showed off his ability to score around the basket. He utilized the step-through when defenders would gamble and he also has a decent floater. Jones also has a solid pull-up jumper from mid-range and 3-point range.
Keynan Russell – Wakeland – C
Kenyan Russell has excellent size and is a great rebounder. Standing at 6’9″, most players are not tall or strong enough to compete with Russell. He would often seal off his defender and call for the ball in the post and score an easy layup. His ability to rebound on both ends and block shots combined with his size and strength makes him an intriguing prospect at the power forward or center position.
Elliot Taite – Independence – G
Taite is a shifty guard that provides a spark off the bench for the Knights. He uses his dribble moves to get to the basket and he has an excellent hesitation move. Taite is also a good 3-point shooter and he draws fouls often.
Xavier Gaffney – Wakeland – G
Gaffney is an excellent facilitator and took some of the ball-handling responsibilities for the Wolverines. He is also a good three-point shooter and he has a solid mid-range jumper. Gaffney plays his role perfectly and doesn’t take bad shots. He lets the game come to him and gets his teammates involved.
