South Spencer: vs. Evansville Harrison (December 1, 2020)
Jace Kelly Jace Kelly 6'0" | PG South Spencer | 2021 IN – 5’11″ 2021 PG: Kelly
Kelly did not have the best offensive stat line, but he displayed some incredible court vision and had a great overall performance by a point guard. He was able to get inside and finish at the rim over the bigger bodies. He also showed off a great stroke from the outside. He’s very quick with the basketball and always has his eyes up. South Spencer is one of the best 2A schools in the country, and they showed that Kelly can lead them to big things even when he doesn’t have his best offensive performance.
Chase Garrett Chase Garrett 6'4" | CG South Spencer | 2021 State IN – 6’4″ 2021 SF: Garrett was a big body inside in this game, and he used it to his advantage. In the paint, he was able to get post position down low which allowed him to go up strong and finish inside. He did not shy away from contact and got to the line multiple times. Not only did he score from the outside, but he also displayed a smooth stroke from the outside. If Garrett can continue to knock down shots and improve on the defensive end, he will be a player that D3 coaches will be targeting for the next level.
Evansville Harrison: at South Spencer (December 1, 2020)
Jahni Summers Jahni Summers 6'5" | SG Evansville Harrison | 2022 State IN – 6’4″ 2022 SG: Summers played very well in the first half of this game, but he struggled in the second half of the game. He was aggressive inside by getting to the rim with ease, and he showed that he can drive both left and right to the rim. He did show that he can be passive with the ball at times which allowed the offense to become stagnant. Summers will continue to grow and become stronger, and he will need to become more consistent to make it at the next level.
Castle: vs. Floyd Central (December 4, 2020)
Robert “Bob” Nunge – 6’5″ 2021 SF: Nunge was a solid role player on the floor for Castle in this game. He moved well without the ball, and he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time on both ends of the floor. On the offensive end, he made some nice cuts inside and drew contact to get to the free-throw line. On the other end of the floor, he played really good man defense and kept his man in front at all times. He is a solid player on both ends, and he should be key for Castle’s success.
Isaiah Swope Isaiah Swope 5'10" | PG Castle | 2021 State IN – 5’10″ 2021 PG: Swope was on fire in the entirety of this game. He was almost all of Castle’s offense, scoring in all ways. He never hesitated to shoot, he was a great finisher inside, and he has incredible range from the outside. He did have a couple of quick pulls which is expected of a player of his skill set. Swope had a career-high of 33 points on 56% from the field and nearly helped Castle pull out an unexpected win over a powerful Floyd Central basketball team.
Floyd Central: at Castle (December 4, 2020)
Jake Heidbreder Jake Heidbreder 6'3" | SG Floyd Central | 2021 State IN – 6’3″ 2021 SG: Heidbreder was outstanding on Friday night. On the offensive end, he was hitting shots from all over the court, from the mid-range to long-range. He displayed great court vision, and he showed an innate ability to get to the rim and finish through contact. On the defensive end, he had active hands, deflecting balls and coming up with a couple of steals. He also dove for loose balls on the floor which was great to see from the best player on the floor. Definitely showed Air Force that they’re going to be getting a good one.
Brady Moore – 6’4″ 2022 SF: Moore started off the game playing very well. He had a couple of nice drives into the lane. He loved the stop and pop at the elbow and knocked down a couple of those jumpers. On the defensive end, he read passing lanes well and came up with a couple of steals that led to fast breaks. If he can grow a little bit more and improve his overall offensive skill set, he will be a player to watch in the future.
