Their frontcourt starts like this: 6’8”, 6’9”, and 6’10”. They are long and athletic, and they put up 84 points tonight. However, it was not enough to beat their crosstown rival the West Fargo Packers. The game started with a 9-0 run by the Packers. West Fargo put the full-court press on early and pushed the tempo. The Packers seemed to have the Mustangs rattled. Sheyenne weathered the storm and fought back to keep it close. It was a high scoring electric first half. The Mustangs went on a few runs, but the Packers would not slow down. Brett Limke Brett Limke 6'1" | PG West Fargo | 2022 State ND led all scorers going into halftime with 17 points and 4 made triples. The second half started at a frenetic pace and flew by. Both teams traded baskets throughout the 2nd half and the lead changed a couple of times. For the most part, the Packers held the lead. It was a very entertaining game to watch offensively. Brett Limke Brett Limke 6'1" | PG West Fargo | 2022 State ND hit a big 3 late for the Packers to seal the deal. The Mustangs had a chance late to tie but came up short. For the first game of the season for both teams, they played well on the offensive end. Expect these teams to be scary come playoff time.

Game Takeaways – Both teams can fill it up from deep. The Mustangs are huge upfront and will give teams problems in the paint all year long. The Packer’s full-court press and fast tempo was impressive in the first half. Expect both teams to improve on the defensive end as the season goes on. The Packers are a gritty team. Both teams passed the ball well and are unselfish. Look for both teams to put up big numbers on the offensive end all season long.

(2022) |6-1 G| West Fargo – Six made 3’s on the night with a dagger late. He was the best player on the court in tonight’s game. He pushed it in transition early in the game. Brett has great handles and sees the court well. He seems to be in control of the game whenever the ball was in his hands. Brett has an ankle-breaking fake crossover and a college-level jump shot from beyond the arc. He is also a pesky smart defender.
Carson Hegerle Carson Hegerle 6'3" | SG West Fargo | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-4 G| West Fargo – Great athlete. He finished with 14 pts. He has the potential to be a lock-down defender and top-end rebounder.
Carter Birrenkott Carter Birrenkott 6'5" | PF West Fargo | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-5 F| West Fargo – Determined player that never stops. He scored all of his 21 points inside the arc. Carson moves well and finds the opening in the defense. He has a nice soft touch around the rim and can hit the mid-range floater. Carter is a strong fundamental player who will have a great season.
Joel Pease (2021) |6-5 F| West Fargo – Solid shooting stroke from deep. He finished with a quiet 16 pts. Joel never forced anything on the offensive end. He let the game come to him and took what the defense gave him. He could be the X-factor this year for the Packers.
Parker Nelson Parker Nelson 5'11" | SG West Fargo | 2022 State ND (2022) |5-11 G| West Fargo – Spark plug on defense. He is a hustler and grinder. Parker makes his team better with his determination and hard work.

Ben Manson (2021) |6-2 G| West Fargo Sheyenne – Pure shooter who hit three 3-pointers in the second half and finished with 11 points. Expect him to make 3’s all year long.
Dominic Dosmann (2021) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – The big lefty finished with 19 points on the night. He is an opportunistic scorer. Dominic crashed the O boards that lead to easy put backs. He is a hustler and hard-nosed player. Look for him to put up big numbers all year long. No other teams can guard all 3 of the big guys from Sheyenne.
Jacksen Moni Jacksen Moni 6'9" | PF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-10 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – Skilled post player who can shoot it outside. He made 2 three-pointers tonight and finished with 24 points. Jacksen is patient in the post and has nice moves. He has a nice touch around the basket. Handling the basketball is not a problem for this big. Early in the game against the full-court press, he brought the ball up the court without any problems. Expect an outstanding year from Jacksen.
Jah’Heem Leake Jah’Heem Leake 6'8" | C West Fargo Sheyenne | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – Strong post moves when he gets it on the block. He is a very gifted athlete. Jah’Heem finished with 16 points on the night. He is unselfish with the basketball and had some nice dishes tonight. Expect a big year for him.
Kaleb Larson (2022) |6-1 G| West Fargo Sheyenne – A serious threat from deep. He hit 2 threes’ in the first half. Keep an eye on Kaleb. He shoots it with great rhythm and solid form. Expect many made triples from him as the year goes on.
