They outhustled the Mustangs and drew first blood. Shanley was very aggressive on the offensive glass. For the first 6 minutes of the game, it seemed like Shanley stole an extra possession every time down the court just by grabbing one of their misses. Eventually, Sheyenne came awake and got back into the game. It did take the Mustangs a good amount of time, but eventually, they took the lead 29-27 late in the first half. Sheyenne led by 6 at halftime.
Sheyenne did a nice job of getting the ball inside and playing off that. The Mustang transition game was looking like a well-oiled machine in the second half. They also had multiple guys knocking down 3’s in the second half. The second half was a display of Sheyenne’s dominance. The Mustangs proved to be too big, strong, athletic, and skilled for the Deacons. Sheyenne slowly but surely built their lead. The game ended with a 19 point victory for the Mustangs. The second half looked to be the best half of basketball Sheyenne has played all year. They had a balanced attack offensively with four players in double figures.
