The game was tied 14 times and the lead changed 8 times throughout the night. Dickinson won the first half by 4 and Minot won the second half by 15. Alex Dvorak Alex Dvorak 6'1" | PG Dickinson | 2023 State ND from Dickinson had 36 points and Deonte Martinez Deonte Martinez 5'10" | PG Minot | 2021 State ND from Minot had 34 points. Dickinson seemed to be the aggressor in the first half. After scoring they pressed full court. Early on they did not cause turnovers, but eventually, they would and that is what helped build the Midget lead. Minot played man D early but switched to some 2-3 later in the half. Both teams traded baskets and played a clean game for the most part. Dvorak and Martinez were impressive early and often. The Dickinson Midgets had the momentum heading into the half.
Whatever momentum the Midgets had going into half was quickly taken away by the Magicians. Minot played much better defense in the second half and kept Dickinson out of the lane. The largest lead the Magicians would have was 12 and they won by 10. Dickinson made a run late to make it interesting. Minot knocked down free throws and took care of the ball to finish off the game.

Game Takeaways – We saw two All-State guards tonight with Martinez and Dvorak. Minot is a smart and deep team. The Magicians are not very big, but they are physical. Dickson is fun to watch when they are pressing and playing fast. Both teams will be a scary matchup in 2 months.

(2023) |5-11 G| Dickinson – High-level talent who can create for himself. He can shoot it from the outside and he gets rid of it quickly. Alex can finish in a variety of ways around the basket in transition and in traffic. I was impressed with his hesitation move and how he was able to get into the paint. Expect him to put up big points all season long. Alex ended with 36 points.
Britton Cranston (2022) |5-8 G| Dickinson – Quick guard who is a balanced player. He looks to be a solid shooter. Britton can handle the ball and pass the rock. Look for him to have a nice year. He had 9 points on the night.
Kyle Brilz (2021) |6-3 G| Dickinson – Solid player who can do a little of everything. He is an opportunistic scorer and a nice athlete. Kyle ended the night with 12 points.

(2021) |5-11 G| Minot – Always in control and aware of what is going on around him. He had a very quiet 34. He lived at the line throughout the game. Deonte’ is silky smooth with the basketball. He has a great mid-range jumper. He never forces it, and it seems to always go in. He was 12/20 at the free-throw line and ended with 34 points. Deonte is a top-notch defender and a very unselfish leader. He might be the fastest player in the state going up and down the court.
Eric Wentz (2022) |6-2 G| Minot – Shoots it with nice form. He is a quality player in transition. Eric is a solid all-around player. He finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
Michael Ross (2021) |6-2 F| Minot – A good athlete with a great feel for the game. He is an exceptional rebounder for his size. I liked his footwork and the way he moves around the basket. Michael is a great cutter that finds open space. He can shoot from outside but is best in the paint. Michael finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds.
