Over the last couple of years, several players have used the circuit as a platform to accelerate their careers. For every Daishen Nix, and Jalen Green Jalen Green 6'6" | SG Prolific Prep | 2020 State #5 Nation CA-N , there are some less-heralded players ready to burst onto the scene. In this article, we take a look at some players from the Mini bubble that had breakout performances.
Antwaun Massey 6’8 PF Minnesota Prep 2022 – High energy, high effort versatile defender. I believe that’s the best way to describe him. Massey is the KJ Simpson of post defenders whereas, he’s so good defensively that you’ll take anything he gives on the offensive end. He’s a long multiple possession defender that excels at getting second chances for his team.
Keeshawn Mason Keeshawn Mason 6'8" | PF Bella Vista Prep | 2021 State AZ 6’7 PF Bella VIsta 2021 – I still can’t get over the size of Mason’s hands. It’s funny to watch him shoot sometimes because the ball looks like a grapefruit in his mitts. His wingspan is also a factor as he combines that with his hands to grab out of area rebounds at a high level. He signed with NJIT which is an absolute steal for them IMO.
Nate Meithof 6’5 SG RON Institute 2021 (featured image) – This kid is an offensive machine. The lefty is a versatile scorer that got to the hole off straight-line drives but also showed some wiggle to his game. Meithof has a few COD’s that allow him to free himself from defenders, once he did he was able to get buckets with his sweet lefty stroke.
George Ochoa 6’7 PF Phoenix Prep 2022 – He was an impressive undersized post. Ochoa was one of the best rebounders during the mini-bubble, with a knack for grabbing out of area boards. His offensive game included some solid post moves as well as a nice touch out to about 18 feet. The young post already has offers from the likes of Depaul, LMU, NV, RIce, and Washington St.
Stefan Todorovic 6’7 SF Prolific Prep 2021 – He’s only been in the country since August so almost any performance would be a breakout. He’s a clear D1 talent with shot-making ability. It’s not only his catch and shoot ability, but his size combined with his ball skills that make him such an exciting prospect. He currently holds offers from Santa Barbara and Illinois.
Ahman Decker 6’6 PF Minnesota Prep 2021 – Decker plays so slow that he’s fast. I’m not sure if he ever broke a sweat, but he certainly managed to produce. He did a little bit of everything while dictating the pace. When left open he calmly sank 3’s, when it was entered to him in the post he patiently used his footwork to create space for his shot.
