Grind Session Mini Bubble ’22 standouts: 12/3

On December 3rd I attended the Grind Session Mini Bubble at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ.  6 teams with three games played on the night.    Results: Eduprize 85 Phhoenix Prep Heat 80 2OT Veritas Prep 69 Minnesota Prep 63 Phhoenix Prep 82 Bella Vista Prep 74   Here were some of the junior standouts of the three games: Jalen CarruthJalenCarruth6'6" | SFBella Vista Prep | 2022State#227NationAZ Bella Vista Prep -A bouncy wing with good size. His catch and shoot 3 is pure. He has a nice pull-up from mid-range and showed a better motor this week rebounding the ball. He is just starting to get comfortable with his new surroundings.  Devontes CobbsDevontesCobbs6'3" | CGEduprize | 2022StateAZ Eduprize (Pictured)  -The uber athletic guard is really hitting his stride as a player. His defense is always at a high level with a real motor collecting rebounds, steals and blocking shots. But it is his offense that keeps advancing. He has become the Ky Oliver of the junior class, who will bring it every single possession and dunk on you in the process. His awareness to make others better is improving and I recently changed him to a CG. Stock is up for the high flyer.  Trey PhillipsTreyPhillips6'6" | SFEduprize | 2022StateAZ Eduprize -A versatile forward can defend any position on the floor. He gobbles up every rebound and covers a lot of ground. He is just starting to step out and shoot the 3 on a more consistent basis. If he keeps making strides with his perimeter shooting, watch out. He can drive down the lane and score it as well.  Orlando GonzalesOrlandoGonzales5'11" | PGPhhoenix Prep | 2022StateAZ Phheonix Prep Heat -A sharp shooter with a sneaky quick burst and speed. He has deep 3pt range and he also doesn’t get credit for being a good passer, since he shoots more often. But he made a couple full court passes straight into shooting pockets. His mid-range pull-up off the dribble is an improving skill of his.  Jayden WarrenJaydenWarren6'2" | SGPhhoenix Prep | 2022StateAZ Phheonix Prep Heat -A future 3 and D guard type with long arms. He does a lot of the dirty work and makes open 3’s. He is a straight line driver and can take a bump and finish. He is also a sneaky good passer and rebounds well for a guard.  Jorge OchoaJorgeOchoa6'6" | PFPhhoenix Prep | 2022AZ Phheonix Prep Heat -A consistent performer had another good game with 17 points and 12 rebounds. He has very strong hands and understands how to use his body to his advantage. He can score it inside but is becoming more of a face-up 4-man. He has a good looking stroke and he hit two 3's but can still attack off the dribble and score through contact.
