The Griffins maintained a double-digit lead for most of the first half but the Arcs were never out of it based on the way Elmore James Elmore James 6'4" | SG Brush | 2022 State OH helped lead the Arcs throughout the night.
An Andrew Jones 3-pointer got the Arcs within five at the end of the third quarter and that’s as close as it got for the remainder of the game. The first five and a half minutes to the fourth quarter was dominated by the Griffins, cultivating in a 14-8 run and never looked back, dropping the Arcs to 0-4.

What stood out with Jackson from the opening tip was his athleticism and high playmaking ability to score at the rim. He was able to beat defenders off the dribble all night but had trouble limiting his fouls. He ended up fouling out midway through the fourth quarter but his impact on the game had already been felt by that point. He had a couple of dunks early on and even shot the ball well inside the perimeter. He finished the night with 17 points and if he keeps playing at this high of a level, it won’t be long until college coaches start to notice his potential moving forward.

The hype is real for James, who’s swiftly garnering the attention of Division I schools. According to head coach Chet Mason after the game, he’s had discussions with James from colleges like Ohio State, Michigan, Xavier and Cincinnati within the last couple of weeks. During the loss to Buchtel, he poured in a game-high 33 points– the fourth straight game to start his junior season scoring at least 30 points.
He’s a player that recovers nicely on defense– he had a nice block against the backboard during a Buchtel fast break in the first half. One thing that stood out to me was his aggressiveness, as his resilience to fight for rebounds was on full display. He led a myriad of fastbreaks in which he scored most of his points from during the first half, including a 15-point second quarter.

An uber-athletic playmaker, Livingston’s skills were on full display against Brush on Dec. 19. He finished the night with 25 points to lead the way for the Griffins. He’s the most vocal player I’ve covered this season and that goes a long way with his teammates on the court. Livingston does an exceptional job running the floor and is tough to contain when he’s in the open court.
His jump shot can be a bit on-and-off, as he struggled to knock down open looks behind the perimeter. His athleticism makes it so hard to stop him from controlling the game, as he was active on the glass and a problem to contain inside the paint when the ball was in his hands. He’s enjoying a breakout season thus far playing for Buchtel again.
