Terrence Dorsey (2022) | Maryville
Dorsey nailed four triples in the second quarter alone. He made his fifth and sixth triples of the game in the third quarter. It was a lovey display for the wing scorer. He did not show much lift on his jumper, but defenders still came nowhere near. Dorsey is a player to consider for college coaches.
Grant Campbell (2023) | Heritage
Grant is “Big Fundamental.” His post moves are crisp though a little mechanical. Encouragingly, Campbell quickly caught the ball and executed fluidly. It appeared that GC spent time drilling the post position prior.
Josh Seiler Josh Seiler 6'5" | SF Maryville | 2021 State TN (2022) | Maryville
I was very, very high on Seiler a year back, but Friday evening he looked rusty. Seiler struggled mightily against contact. His hands were hard and unforgiving. In a vacuum, he looked underwhelming but within the context of him just now returning, the ranked senior deserves another look.
Nate Marsh Nate Marsh 5'8" | PG Heritage | 2021 State TN (2021) | Heritage
Earned his way to the free throw line repeatedly. Quick end-to-end player. Marsh created for himself and created relatively legitimate shots. His touch did not always impress, but the creativity and basketball awareness deserves recognition.
Charlie Rice (2022) | Maryville
As a replacement for Joe Anderson Joe Anderson 6'0" | PG Maryville | 2020 State TN , Charlie Rice is a different look. Spunky, patient. Like Anderson, Rice is not selfish. Repeatedly, Rice elected to pass the ball instead of forcing a challenged layup. He hit his shot when the flow found him open, but the team certainly kept the ball moving. Great team spacing. Rice sees the floor well.
Jefferson County vs. Alcoa: December 11
Davin Watkins Davin Watkins 6'0" | PG Nolensville | 2021 State TN (2021) | Nolensville
The continued improvement of Davin Watkins Davin Watkins 6'0" | PG Nolensville | 2021 State TN is noteworthy. He played alongside with two impactful seniors last year that will be missed. Now a senior, Watkins is certainly a leader. Watkins scored 13 points in the blowout win over Fairview. Good frame. Needs more commitment to weight room in order to play college basketball.
Partial Squads with *Starters
#1 Kawika Makua* (2021) – Jefferson County
#2 Kade Parker* (2022) – Jefferson County
#11 Kobe Parker* (2021) – Jefferson County
#15 Jacob Thompson* (2021) – Jefferson County
#22 Noah Bowman* (2021) – Jefferson County
#3 Elijah Medcalf (2021) – Jefferson County
#10 Gideon Haney (2022) – Jefferson County
#2 Jahvin Carter* (Alcoa 2024)
#3 Drew Napier* (Alcoa 2023) – The game of Drew Napier is advanced beyond his years. He appeared to be a capable outside shooter but his grit in traffic makes him a danger to defenses going forward. Drew showed toughness and aggression against a slightly larger Jefferson County team. His willingness to mix it up with the post Patriots impressed. Young teams, as Alcoa is, tend to feed off of emotion. They can rise and fall with the emotional mood of the moment. Thankfully for Alcoa Drew and other young guards consistently inject tenacity and hunger into the game.
#4 Bryson Stewart* (Alcoa 2023) – Very soft touch. Very thin. Skill is good. In the coming year he needs to add weight. The smoothness with the basketball sets him apart from other 2023 plaeyrs. Stewart

#24 Ethan Simpson* (Alcoa 2022) – No frills. Effective in small doses. Unselfish. Glue guy. No glaring weaknesses, no sterling strengths.
#1 Ronald “Tank” Jackson (Alcoa 2021) –
Kawika Makua (Jeff. Co. 2021) – Instant offense came from Kawika. The 2-3 zone of Jefferson County looked pretty plain, but any turnover sprung the widget into action and the end result took the form of a silky Makua layup.
Noah Bowman (Jefferson County 2021) – Served his teammates well in the post. Alcoa simply could not guard Noah in the first quarter, for no reason other than size. Noah is a tall dude with a good presence about him. Bowman made Alcoa switch some personnel around and adapt their gameplan defensively a touch.
Kade Parker (Jefferson County 2022) – Kade proved to be a multi-dimensional guard with exceptional court savvy and dependable outside touch.
Alcoa’s Style vs. Grainger (December 7th)
Tai Cates Tai Cates 5'11" | PG South-Doyle | 2023 State TN is coming off a tremendous freshman season and strong AAU campaign. He earned his way into the PrepHoopsTN rankings. Alas, he is merely one of several strong players for Alcoa.
Jahvin Carter will be special. The young guard made a glistening show on his very first night of high school hoops. Expect massive success in his near and distant future.
Alcoa might not always play this fast, but facing Grainger they swarmed the ball and created constant problems. Grainger was way, way overmatched and the game lacked a competitive balance.
Tai ripped free plenty of dribbles and the entire Alcoa team created simple turnovers. Alcoa looks as if they are going to be among the best Class AA teams in the eastern third of the state. It is merely one game, but it was assuredly convincing in its domination.
Riley Byron (2021) | Nolensville
Riley managed 15 points against FHS.
