In this report, I focused on five prospect who I thought showed a good upside, still a bit raw, but showed themselves to be prospects to keep an eye on in the c/o 2023.
Mike Davis Jr, 6’7 Forward, San Joaquin Memorial.
Davis has good size and length, with good movement for a player his size. He’s still a bit raw on the offensive end, but you can see with continued skill development he’ll be one you have to account for. He goes up strong inside off two. His long arms, and active body will go after rebounds, and blocks, he has some presence in the paint, his hands were usually up and away from his body. A good upside, he’s a player to watch.
Henry Madden III, 6’4 Forward, Central.
Madden III a long armed square shouldered prospect, with a solid body showed his skills when he was in transition. He really gears up to finish the play, with big hands, long arms, and ball control, he’ll be a good finisher going forward. He had some success finishing around the basket including. He has good activity when inside, he uses the dribble from the wings to get a shot in the paint. He’ll shoot from the outside, he hit a couple corner 3’s.
Dylan Swillis, 6’5 Wing/Forward, Central
The future is bright at Central with Swillis and Madden both in the c/o of 2023. Swillis is a long, thin wiry prospect. He’ll have to bulk up. As with a lot of these young prospects, they want to show they can play on the perimeter. Swillis had some success doing this, he worked in the post area also. He showed decent handles when, he hit a couple of mid range jumpers in the short corner, and in the paint, with the dribble, he’ll shoot the three from the wings, he’s a good passer. His long arms helps him finish inside. Getting stronger will improve his rebounding, and raise his game a notch.
Kristian Holmes, 6’0 Point Guard, Fresno.
This was my first look at the point guard from Fresno. Holmes is a solid floor leader who’s going to get better. The lefty has superb ball handling skills, makes good decisions, and has good court vision. He’ll handle full court ball pressure using his body, and he’ll make long, strong passes up court early to teammates. He looks to be a pass first point guard, content to be a floor leader, but can clearly get his own shot. He has good lateral movement on the defensive side.
Argus DeMel Turner, 6’1 Guard, Lemoore.
A solid 2 sport athlete (Football) had a good showing at this event. He has good foot speed, and uses it with or without the ball. He’s a quality ball handler who has a nice mid-range jumper, and a quick first step to go by defenders on his way to the basket. He plays with good energy on both ends.
