While they have over a year until they will be able to play in college, the players in the class are still looking for ways to get their name out there. Here is a look at some of the 2022 prospects in this installment of the Film Room.
Nicholas (Niko) Barnes Nicholas (Niko) Barnes 6'4" | CG Compass Prep | 2023 State NJ , 6’4 CG Edison
Barnes has a good handle and is able to break down his defender off the bounce. Once he gets past his defender, he is able to finish with either hand around the basket and does not mind drawing contact. Barnes plays with confidence on the perimeter and uses his size to elevate over smaller defenders for jumpers. He plays with quick hands on defense and does not mind scrapping for rebounds on both ends of the floor.
Justin Hawkins Justin Hawkins 6'7" | SF Life Center Academy | 2022 State NJ , 6’7 SF Life Center Academy
Hawkins is a point forward as he is able to bring the ball up the floor and can run the offense in the half court. He can blow by his defender off the bounce and finish above the rim. Hawkins has a good release on his jumper and does not seem to get rattled by on-ball pressure in the half court. He is a good passer and knows how to get his hands on balls on the defensive end.
Luke Braaten Luke Braaten 6'7" | PF Brick Memorial | 2022 State NJ , 6’7 PF Brick Memorial
Braaten has a nice spin move around the basket, which he uses to create space for himself down low. He has a good touch on his release and is capable of knocking down perimeter jumpers when given space. Braaten moves very well off the ball and has some of the best hands in the class. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his length to block shots on defense.
Andrew Ball Andrew Ball 6'8" | SF Shawnee | 2022 State NJ , 6’8 SG/SF Shawnee
Ball plays with confidence on the perimeter as he is unafraid to pull up and shoot it in transition. He has a nice release on his shot and uses his size to shoot over smaller defenders closing out to him. Ball is more than just a shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. He can defend multiple positions on the floor and is capable of bringing the ball up the floor at times.
Cy Arvanitis Cy Arvanitis 6'3" | SG Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ , 6’0 CG Red Bank Catholic
Arvanitis is one of the top shooters in the class as he is capable of burying triples in bunches. He has a lightning quick release on his jumper and sets himself up before every shot. Arvanitis knows how to move without the ball, creating space for himself for threes and cuts to the basket. He can run the offense effectively and has the ability to get to the basket from the perimeter.
