Jake is quickly going to become one of the more hated players in the area. All because of how well and hard he plays. He’s a willing defender with strength and a capable enough scorer that he’s going to really be a menace as he gets older. Guys that play with effort usually find the floor quicker and he’s doing that more than most his age. Add in his ability to hit threes at a really good clip and take charges and he was a great role player in this game for Cathedral.

Sincere is a long, rangy guard who played a stellar game. Hit shots when he was open and showed that he can handle the ball well to get to his spots. He’s so long that it make be a little bit before his ball handling really takes off but he showed some massive improvements since we saw him last. He can impact the boards more, showed some but could be more. The upside looks really tangible now with the strides he has made. That jumper could be a game changer for him.

Hooks didn’t have that long stretch of offense but had some really big plays mixed in. He was really solid shooting the ball and has a good feel for those mid-range jumpers. He attacked the rim well and made plays along the baseline. Needs a little more speed going at the rim, had a few times where he met defenders at the rim because there was too much of a build up to get there. His rebounding was really good was active away from the rim trying to get the ball.

Joey is a long, rangy forward who has some raw skill that may take some time to fully develop. He moves really well and can get up and down the floor but lacks strength to be super effective around the rim when facing other players in the post with similar or greater size. His mobility will come into play soon enough but will be interesting to see if he can stretch out and shoot and become a greater mismatch as he gets older. Doesn’t show it that much now. Most comfortable facing the rim and catching in the middle of the floor and trying to drive.
Jayden Whitaker – 6’2 SF 2023 – Brownsburg (IN)
Whitaker is a player to keep on your radar. A long, well built young wing who looks like he is going to grow quite a bit more. Passes the ball fairly well and tends to make the extra pass when needed. Can handle the ball but more of a wing that facilitates at this stage. Not sure what offensive skills he will end up with but he does seem to be in and around the ball and with the frame the way it is, he could start taking advantage this season with dumpoffs and second chance points.

Moss is a big wing with some upside down the road. Solid shooter, hit a few threes early and cooled off in the second half. He has enough size and strength on the wing but he’s not the quickest with the ball in his hands so he’s not likely to drive, but more to look to shoot or 1-dribble and shoot. If he can find more avenues to diversify the offense, the shooting could become a much bigger weapon.
Quinton Floyd – 6’3 SG 2023 – Gary 21st (IN)
Floyd is a long, lean guard who can slash and get in the lane. Really lacks strength on the frame so far but is still pretty young and should be able to grow into his size soon enough. That should accentuate his driving ability. He has some good length and that could come into play down the road. He can gets fed up at times when he is handling the ball in the open floor, best when on the wing and looking to create.
