In this article we look at some of the top freshman standouts:
Vyctorius Miller CG 6’5 Oakwood School/CA
-One of the most gifted freshman I have viewed thus far. His game is smooth and has a great feel for the game with an impressive basketball body. He is extremely long and has a great frame to put on weight long term. He is a good passer and plays poised plus he can shoot and drive it. He has a good handle and is a sneaky good passer.
Scott Jr ‘Scotty’ Belnap SG 6’5 Mater Dei/CA (Pictured)
-One of the top freshman shooters. He can pull-up off the dribble from the 3pt line and from mid-range. He can handle the ball fairly well and step back on his defender. He is a good passer and has good body control in the air plus can throw it down easily. He has a smoothness about him that many covet.
DJ Thomas DJ Thomas 6'2" | PG Liberty | 2024 #19 Nation NV Liberty/NV
-A pure PG whose ball is on a string for him and he has an elite burst into the lane. He is a blur in the open court and he is super shifty, smartly changes speeds and defends. The lefty has a nice stroke with deep range and he can pull-up off the dibble from mid. He is currently ranked #1 for incoming freshman per Bruce Williams of PrepHoopsNV.
Ben Roseborough SG 6’3 Sacramento/CA
-A thick framed guard is a bucket. He is a 3-level scorer that can dunk it, shoot it with range on his 3pt shot and drive in traffic using his thicker body. He is already standing out with the older players and should be an impact HS player right away.
Mister Burnside CG/PG 6’2 Paraclete/CA
-A very poised freshman who is a natural scorer. He has a nice floater and uses finger rolls and layups off a burst. He can pull-up from mid to the 3. He gets his hands on many balls on defense with a big time motor. Look for him to average double figures on varsity this season.
Jayden Harper PF 6’7 Bishop Alemany/CA
-A live active body rebounds at a high level. He has a nice shooting stroke and plays with a big motor. A long forward is just starting to extend his range out but currently prefers driving the lane.
Jeremiah Wright SF 6’5 Lynden Christian/WA
-A strong wing shooter can drive it and shoot it to the 3pt line. He has a stronger frame with good length and big feet. He can rip through and score through contact with his length and build. He is projected to already get quality minutes on varsity.
Jaden Goodall SG 6’3 Canyon/CA
-The lefty has a clip. He is one of the best shooters I viewed in his age group so far along with Belnap. He is long and skinny but he can sling it from deep. He is also competitive on defense.
