Elder shoots the ball at an extremely high level and the most impressive thing about their team is the high quality of shots they get almost every possession. Beavercreek really struggled with turnover issues, as their inexperienced back-court couldn’t take care of the basketball. Here were the top performers from Elder’s dominant second half that turned a competitive game into a rout.
Andrew Harp Andrew Harp 6'5" | SF Elder | 2022 State OH , 6’4 SF Elder 2022: Shot is just so smooth. Excellent pre-catch habits, looks so clean off the catch and even off movement. Made a 3-pointer on back-to-back-to-back possessions in the second quarter. Didn’t do much self-creation but within the Elder offense there aren’t many designed opportunities for isolation possessions. Excellent two sport athlete who looks like a coveted college prospect at both football and basketball.
Sean Keller, 5’10 PG Elder 2022: Keller plays like a savvy veteran. In control when attacking the basket, used the pivot and pump fakes to gain an advantage. Didn’t have the same shooting success as he had in the season opener against Aiken but made plenty of winning plays for his team. A key piece for Elder this season and should see his recruitment pick up in the spring when small colleges move their focus to 2022 athletes.
Adam Duvall Adam Duvall 6'6" | PF Beavercreek | 2022 State OH , 6’6 PF Beavercreek 2022: Duvall showed what we knew about him, which was how excellent of a shooter he is. Despite passing up some open looks from 3-point range, he looked very confident on the perimeter. Duvall left some points on the table tonight by having a couple shots he usually makes go in and out. Duvall is unfortunately the primary ball handler for breaking the press on Beavercreek, which says a lot more about Beavercreek’s guards than it does Duvall. Lost the handle a few times when trying to attack with his left, but he’s not afraid to put it on the floor with his off hand. Not the quickest but can create space for shots when needed. Lack of foot speed is more noticeable on defense when Duvall is closing out on the perimeter.
Michael Keehan, 6’1 SF Elder 2021: Keehan does a good job of playing within the offense. Showed the ability to space the floor and get open without the ball. Really got going in the second half, helped Elder pull away with the win. Might not get the shine of some of his other teammates, but he’ll need to continue to play well if Elder wants to compete in the ultra-competitive GCL-South this season.
