The NCHSAA is set to begin play within the next few weeks! Although the season will be shorter than usual we are excited that students enrolled in public schools are going to get the chance to play and compete. Over the next few days we will take some time to dive into some of the prospects to watch on the East side of the state, beginning with the 1A division.
Riverside-Williamson Junior Wing Avion Pinner
AvionPinner6'7" | SFRiverside-Martin | 2022StateNC is a prospect that we feel has a high amount of potential and D1 programs at multiple levels have already shown high interest. A legit 6’7 with long arms that can play on the wing, Pinner still has plenty of room to grow but showcased over the summer that he can compete with the best. ECU has already offered and we expect more in-state schools to jump on board sooner than later.
Washington HS Senior Guard Omarion Blount
OmarionBlount6'1" | CGWashington | 2021StateNC is one of the more slept on players in ENC but he slowly but surely is turning heads. The combination of scoring ability, strength and confidence are all things you will see from Blount. Last season Blount averaged just under 18 Points &

OmarionBlount6'1" | CGWashington | 2021StateNC is one of the more slept on players in ENC but he slowly but surely is turning heads. The combination of scoring ability, strength and confidence are all things you will see from Blount. Last season Blount averaged just under 18 Points & 5 Rebounds last season, helping his team achieve a 18-9 record. Wake Tech CC was the first program to offer and we are pretty sure that they won’t be the last.
One of the better unsigned seniors in the state, Henderson Collegiate Guard
Javonte WaverlyJavonteWaverly6'3" | CGHenderson Collegiate | 2021StateNC who averaged 16 Points, 4 Rebounds & 4 Assist last season for his squad that helped them to take home a share of the 1A Championship with Winston Salem Prep. Toughness is the attribute that sets Waverly apart from many other prospects, he competes on both ends of the floor and we feel he will be a nice college guard once he gets to the next level.
East Carteret has been a program over the years that has produced talent that can play on the next level and in his first three years,
Bennie Brooks
BennieBrooks6'4" | CGEast Carteret | 2021StateNC has proven himself as a legit prospect. Last season his team finished with a 22-4 record and Brooks averaged 25 Points, 8 Rebounds, 4 Assist and 3 steals per contest. His ability to impact the game in so many ways is really impressive, considering he only stands at about 6’4.
Wilson Prep has quite a few prospects that college coaches should be on and two of them are Senior Guard
Nasiar BlackstonNasiarBlackston6'4" | CGWilson Prep | 2021StateNC & Junior Guard
Nayshin WallerNayshinWaller6'4" | CGWilson Prep | 2022StateNC. Blackston is a sleeper prospect that recently came off an outstanding performance at the GMR Super 60 which earned him MVP honors. While Waller has used the offseason Grassroots tournaments to raise his stock and pick up college interest.
Last but not least is Granville Central & App State signee Terrance Harcum who will look to lead his team to a deep state run. Harcum has gotten better every year and impacts the game in numerous ways from the guard spot.
