Every Tuesday from now until April, we will bring you the players that compete in one of the longest running best leagues in the nation. Today we bring you the class of 2024. The future looks very bright for these young players.
Ian Jackson 6”5. 2024. Cardinal Hayes HS
Coach Lods started our conversation with excitement as he spoke of Ian’s defending the basket and the ball. He also praised his unselfishness. Coaches don’t usually start with that scout on a player in this day and age. But when you watch him, you realize he has all those intangibles plus he can flat out score. Special in transition. Finishes at the rim with authority. Can guard multiple positions. Improving on his range and shooting which will improve with the more shots he gets up. Bryant has offered. When we start to play more offers will come quick and fast.
Jacob Hogarth 6”8 2024. Stepinac HS
High majors offers in tow for this skilled big man. Creighton and Maryland have offered. High energy. Has the ability to finish above the rim. Can step out and consistently knock down shots from17 feet and in. Good athlete. Can alter shots. Working on his range. Will be a force as he grows into his body. Potentially a top 10 player in the country.
Dwayne Pierce 6”4 2024. Christ the King HS
With his handle, he is a big guard. He can get to the basket and finish. Can take a game over in an instant. Flat out scorer of the ball. A real stud that you can build around. Improving on his overall consistency in his shooting. Continuously improves his game from one game to the next. New Mexico State and Nebraska have offered.
Steven Solano 6”11 2024. Christ the King HS
Very young big post player. Can play with his back to the basket. Clears the glass on both sides of the floor. A rim protector. A little raw with a lot of upside. Will be interesting to see how he adjusts to the speed of the game. Also the physical nature of the Chsaa. Bryant and Nebraska have offered.
Johnuel Fland 6”2 2024. Stepinac HS
High octane motor with a savvy basketball IQ. Very skilled player in all aspects of the game. Is a pass-first lead guard who can light it up in a variety of ways. Could potentially get you 25 at any given time. A very consistent and lights out shooter from three. Should add strength to his frame as he grows older. Very high ceiling. Has offers from LIU, Sienna, Rider, and Bryant.
Eric Mejia 6”3 2024. Cardinal Hayes HS
A bulldog. Can get to the rim and finish through contact. Very good court vision and awareness. Good coming off screens in catch and shoot situations. Improving on his defense and also his mid-range game. Bryant has offered.
