Great event by Justin Barrington and company that gave prospects an opportunity to put more game film on tape against quality competition. Here we jump into the top performers in Cape Holiday Classic: 2022 & 2023 Standouts!
Elliot Lowndes (Cobden – 2022)
Lowndes keeps seeing his stock go up and up every single time we evaluate him. The long and lanky 6’9” post is about to make a big debut in our next PHI 2022 rankings. Very projectable with his length and mobility. Pick/pop threat that can also roll to the hoop with fluidity off ball screens. Rebounded well in traffic despite his lack of strength. Was effective as a shot blocker on the defensive end. Quite a bit of upside here.
Rayzhaun Bardo Rayzhaun Bardo 5'11" | PG Marion | 2022 State IL (Marion – 2022)
Bardo showed good passing feel especially in the half court at the Holiday Classic. The Marion point guard worked well around ball screens in pick/roll situations. Made sound decisions repeatedly. Although he was most effective as a distributor, he also had a sweet reverse layup on a baseline take.
Justin King Justin King 6'4" | PG Mascoutah | 2022 State IL (Mascoutah – 2022)
King started out on fire in this game. The rangy Mascoutah 2022 point guard drilled an array of jumpers including a stop and pop mid-range jumper along with a step back three. At times it can be a bit of a line drive shot but has a chance to be a sound shooter from the lead guard spot especially off the dribble. Got in the lane with his shifty handles for a reverse layup and sweet runner. Had a few nice passes in spurts.
Ty Lenhardt Ty Lenhardt 6'3" | PG Waterloo | 2022 State IL (Waterloo – 2022)
Lenhardt is a tough and skilled combo guard that went coast to coast on multiple occasions along with a nice reverse layup.
Michael Godsey (Harrisburg – 2022)
Godsey is a long and rangy point guard with a thin frame. He got to the rim for a couple of acrobatic layups.
Chris Allen (Harrisburg – 2022)
Allen is a super raw 6’8” post that is a bit stiff at times, but you can’t teach his size. Flashed a little bit of handles from the mid-post. One to monitor his progress over the next year.
Tyler Franklin (Cobden – 2023)
Franklin is a strong bodied and left-handed combo forward that isn’t quite as athletic as his older brother, but brings a lot of the same physicality on the interior. He is at his best putting his head down and getting to the cup on strong takes where he bullies his way through contact.
Cade Altadonna Cade Altadonna 6'0" | PG Highland | 2023 State IL (Highland – 2023)
Altadonna is a crafty point guard that can score it in bunches. Surprisingly he didn’t hit a three in the game that we saw, but was still extremely effective using his nifty ball handling getting through traffic on quick straight line takes where he finishes with either hand. Great body control maneuvering the ball around the hoop. Rebounds well for a guard and plays with a ton of tenacity.
Cole Peppenhorst Cole Peppenhorst 6'4" | PF Breese Mater Dei | 2023 State IL (Breese Mater Dei – 2023)
Peppenhorst is a skilled face up four man that has a thin frame. Stretches the floor with his shooting out to beyond the arc on occasion. Quality shot blocking presence with good timing.
Darien Singleton (Mascoutah – 2023)
Singleton has had a strong last couple months putting his name on the map at a variety of events. Quick point guard that handles it well and uses his speed in transition. Drained several pull up threes that he created off the bounce. Good elevation and balance on those shots.
