Connor Turnbull Connor Turnbull 6'9" | PF Ft. Zumwalt North | 2022 State MO 6’10″ Fort Zumwalt North: The talented young 2022 big had a breakout performance in the Panthers’ semifinals victory over host Borgia. He controlled the action at both ends with 24 points, six rebounds, 11 blocks and six dunks. He also stepped out a knocked down a couple of 3-pointers. He has good length and a very nice skill set and a big upside as he is just getting started in his overall development.
Barry Thomas Barry Thomas 6'1" | PG St. Charles West | 2023 State MO 6’1″ University City: The 2023 point guard is a tremendous addition to the Lions after transferring over from St. Charles. He has excellent quickness in the open court to go along with good decision making ability. He was at his best on the drive with penetrating moves to the basket, but he also hit his share of open 3-pointers. He was also a pest on defensive end with his on-ball pressure.
Larry Abbey Larry Abbey 5'9" | PG University City | 2022 State MO 5’10″ University City: The stout 2022 point guard is the consummate pass-first floor leader for a talented team that raced to the championship. He has the ability to score, but what he does best is make sure all of his talented teammates eat at the troph and he does that well with his court vision and passing wizardry. The Lions had many alley-oop dunks during the week and the majority of them came off of his passes on the front end.
Grant Schroeder 6’2″ Borgia: The 2023 wing was one of the revelations of the tournament as he led the third-place Knights in scoring for the tournament. He was fearless all week long as he attacked the basket with reckless abandon and it served him well as he finished more often than night. When he wasn’t attacking off the dribble, he was moving without the ball and getting buckets off of his hard cuts. I was very impressed with his high-energy play.
Carleton Thomas 6’4″ University City: The athletic 2022 forward is a valuable piece on the Lions’ very athletic and talented front line. While teammate Jalen Hampton Jalen Hampton 6'7" | PF Link Year | 2022 MO was dominating in the lane, Thomas was also getting his share of work done on the offensive glass with his tenacity and quick jump. He also threw down some impressive dunks and blocked shots. He was very active and he runs the court well in transition.
