I didn’t stay long due to COVID-19 but I watched a few games on BallerTV plus I watched 4 teams live as well.
Some talented teams came from WA, NM, CO, CA, NV and a couple local AZ teams.
Here were some of the senior standouts I viewed:
D’mari Johnson D’mari Johnson 6'6" | PF Phhoenix Prep | 2022 AZ Glenview College Prep/AZ
-A low post beast. He has multiple post moves with a mean drop step. He can step out to the 3pt line but is best carving up space inside and scoring it using his skill, strength and girth.
Kholin Woods Kholin Woods 6'6" | PF Glenview College Prep | 2021 State AZ Glenview College Prep/AZ
-A high motored forward is the son of former U of A standout Loren Woods. He rebounds anything near him at its highest point using his length and athleticism. He has a real motor to keep plays alive on the glass and can score it around the rim. He can also block shots in his area.
Gio De La Fuente Gio De La Fuente 6'2" | SG Glenview College Prep | 2021 State AZ Glenview College Prep/AZ
-A scoring guard who is a deep threat. He has range from the volleyball line off the catch. He defends well on the ball with nice lateral quickness and he will take a charge when needed. He has the floater game, but he will be a floor spacer for the next level.
Robert Vaihola Robert Vaihola 6'7" | PF Archbishop Riordan | 2021 State CA-N Riordian/CA (Team Arsenal)
-A long and thicker forward who is improving his shooting range to the HS 3. He uses his length to rebound and block shots and he is a good passer out of the post. He can post up and finish with his left or right hand with multiple counter moves. He also can give a shot fake and put the ball on the floor and score through contact.
Jason Cibull PG 5’11 Alameda/CA (Team Arsenal)
-A crafty and cerebral pure PG makes his team go. He can dissect a defense and is quick enough to get into the lane and drop off a pass. He is very good off the pick and roll and he is hard to speed up plus handles pressure well with his tight handle. He made a couple impressive full court passes and he can also pull-up from mid to the 3 off the dribble.
Myron Amey SG 6’4 Scotland Prep/CA (Team Rampage)
-A long and athletic scoring guard. He has good awareness and can make plays for others but it’s his shooting that catches your eye. He can rattle them off quickly. He is best off the catch but he can take a jab step and then rise up and hit from deep. He also takes long strides into the lane and can score it through contact with either hand. He plays the passing lanes well using his length and quickness on defense.
Nick Herrmann Nick Herrmann 6'2" | SG Torrey Pines | 2021 State CA-S Torrey Pines/CA (Gamepoint) (Pictured)
-A sturdy framed guard who can really shoot it from mid to the 3. He also makes smart reads on the floor and can spray it around to shooters. He plays the game with a high IQ and has an unreal story. He missed all of last season, his actual senior season, and was awarded an additional year to play since he dealt with bone cancer. It is truly remarkable that he is still playing; and playing well. He defended on the ball with high effort with a good motor.
Evan Gonzales Evan Gonzales 5'10" | PG Cleveland | 2021 State NM Cleveland/NM (NM Team Swoosh Nike)
-A highly skilled guard who is very shifty and keeps defenses off balances with hesitations and changing speeds. He can shoot the 3 and is quick enough to get passed his defender and lay it in. He is a long defender and collects a lot of steals and deflections a game.
Nathan Hasberry Nathan Hasberry 6'3" | SG Cleveland | 2021 State NM Cleveland/NM (NM Team Swoosh Nike)
-A physical downhill wing can score it in multiple ways. He has a nice layup package and is a mid-and-in player. He can punish players with his strength and seems to bounce off of opposing defenders to score. One of his best traits is his defense. He uses his physicality and length to keep players in front of him and can pick their pockets.
