The event was the perfect opportunity for some unknown players to make a name for themselves. Here is a look at our top 10 sleepers from the event.
- Myron Amey 6’4 SG Team Rampage 2021 – Amey was a bucket getter all week. Has a textbook stroke, but was also willing to get tough buckets around the rim. The 6’4 wing shooter also showed above-average ability to deliver on time and on target passes to teammates out of double teams.
- Nathan Hasberry 6’4 SG Team Swoosh Nike 2021 – I’m not a fan of Hasberry’s release, however, I’m a big fan of the result. He’s a bucket getter that had some big scoring performances. Hasberry was good at finding buckets on putbacks, scoring in transition, and when left alone from 3. High Academic guy that is going to be a great fit for someone.
- Robert Vaihola Robert Vaihola 6'7" | PF Archbishop Riordan | 2021 State CA-N 6’7 PF Arsenal 2021 – Too skilled and too big not to have an offer. Showed he could step out and stretch the floor, plus a high offensive IQ.
- Jason Cibull 5’9 PG Arsenal 2021 – Since he doesn’t pass the eye test, I think Cibull just gets overlooked, however, he can play. I like guys that produce, and Cibull consistently got buckets this weekend. Changes the scoreboard with his shooting, can handle against pressure, and is tough as nails. Someone’s going to figure out how to use a player with that type of skillset.
- Donavan Watkins 5’8 PG So Cal Prime 2021 – Watkins looked good against every team except Grrr. The PG has major wiggle and showed the ability to separate from defenders. One of the quickest players at the event, Watkins played limited minutes for a talent-laden Corona Centennial squad, however, he looked good this weekend. He just needs more opportunities to showcase his talent.
- Jordan Webster 6’3 SG Gamepoint 2022 – Webster missed his sophomore year due to injury. This definitely qualifies the 6’3 sniper as a sleeper. He was productive, knocking down 3’s and scoring in transition.
- Jerry Hayes Jerry Hayes 5'11" | CG Emerald Ridge | 2021 State WA 6’0 PG Washington Supreme 2021 – Haye’s ability to change speeds allowed him to spend a lot of time in the paint. The PG showed good blow by ability, finishing at the rim frequently.
- Tyler Isaak 6’3 SF Team Grr 2021 – Isaak’s is a player that jumped off the film at me. Versatile guy that seemed to play the role of talented glue guy for Team Grrr. He made open 3’s and showed a good ability to lift defenders with shot fakes, drive and finish at the basket.
- Isaiah Watts Isaiah Watts 6'4" | SG West Seattle | 2022 State WA 6’2 SG Friends of Hoop 2022 – Watt’s was hit or miss this weekend, but you can definitely see the talent. He showed good fundamentals along with a nice skillset. Watts can score in iso situations as well as knockdown jumpers off catch and shoots. As he becomes more aggressive offensively, he’s going to become a prospect to keep an eye on.
- Tylen Riley 6’0 CG Durango 2023 – It wasn’t the best weekend for Riley, but you can’t ignore the potential. The long-armed combo is a willing defender that plays with aggression on the offensive end. He made some mistakes that are common for young players getting their first taste of varsity-level competition. Clean those things up, and you may have a quality prospect on your hands.
