Game 1:
D1 New Mexico – 57
Ballerz – 45
Game 2: vs WCE Los Angeles National
This by far was one of the best games of the tournament. Under Armor New Mexico against Under Armour Los Angeles, California. Trust me it didn’t disappoint in any way. Both sides played excellent with each team scoring buckets back and forth. Right off the jump D1 NM scores and continues to do so taking a little lead. Their shooting guard Dylan Chavez got hot fast. WCE comes back with some steals and easy layups. They continue to pour it on and end up tying the game right before half time.
Right off the jump D1 takes the lead with a 3 point banger by Mike Knaub. If you haven’t heard of Mike Knaub you will. He is a 6’3 SF who can do it all. That 3 pointer seemed to light a fire on the rest of his team. They end up taking a 13 point lead with a fall back 3 pointer by Dylan Chavez. WCE shows their discipline running great play sets and banging underneath the rim. They end up tying D1 NM and forcing the game into overtime. WCE continues to dominate and D1 NM finds themselves down by 3 points with 1:24 left. D1 NM flips the script playing great defense and forcing multiple turnovers. Mike Knaub ends up grabbing a loose ball and scoring a lay up for a huge D1 NM win.
Game 3: vs Team Nikos
D1 NM wins the jump and in 3 passes strikes first with a crafty lay up. D1 struggles to get offensive boards and allows Team Nikos to get some easy baskets. They don’t stop there either. Nikos starts playing extreme defense causing multiple turnovers. D1 NM is definitely feeling the pressure. Those turnovers end up becoming multiple 3 pointers from Team Nikos tying the game. Once again Team Nikos plays hard defense double teaming players and takes the lead at the half 27-21.
D1 NM starts the second half with a purpose. Their pressure defense causes multiple turnovers which turn into points on the other side of the court. They manage to fight back and get within 2 points all with the help of Mike Knaub’s inside shooting. D1 Continues with playing hard defense and grabbing rebounds to take the lead. Team Nikos hits a crazy 3 point shot tying the game with 20 seconds left. D1 plays hard driving the ball and gets a layup winning by 2. Another fantastic game with a great finish.
Game 4: vs WCE Elite Nor Cal
D1 New Mexico – 46
WCE Nor Cal – 45
Game 5: vs WCE San Diego
D1 New Mexico – 73
WCE San Diego – 28
