Five-Star basketball prospect Aminu MohammedAminuMohammed6'5" | SGSpringfield Greenwood | 2021State#19NationMO of Greenwood Lab gave a verbal commitment to Georgetown University on Monday evening.

The 6’5" Mohammed made his official announcement at a special ceremony in front of his friends, teammates and other fans at the Betty and Bobby Allison Event Center on Greenwood’s campus. Rated as the No. 1 player in the Prep Hoops Missouri Class of 2021 rankings and a top 20 player nationally, Mohammed chose Georgetown over Georgia, which he said was his other final school.

In choosing Georgetown, Mohammed will be returning to the Washington, D.C. area where he started his high school career. Since moving to Springfield for his sophomore year, Mohammed has managed to rewrite many of the records at Greenwood as well as some in the Springfield area as well. He entered his senior year with more than 2,000 career points.

Mohammed also confirmed at the press conference that he will be staying at Greenwood to finish his senior season, ending any speculation that he might be graduating early to attend his collegiate destination at the end of the semester.
